Wheres my site?

My site coastny has been entered numerous times and it is never added. Why? Its having downtime right now thanks to geocities but its not that bad of a site or anything.

Don't worry, I submitted my site about 30 times and never got a letter saying I didn't get accepted or did get accepted. I even applyed for hosting and never got a response. Maybe Jeff hates me or something, but I take a lot of pride into how many hours I put into my website.

I think what you have done is combined the worst of both worlds... Geocities & CJB.Net. I'm not one to speak because I use both... but I also pay extra for both. I don't think Geocities's free services can even allow you to be linked from a site like Coasterbuzz. The first 50 people or so will be able to get on, but after that... you get that Bandwith message from Geocities.

I pay 9.95 annually for CJB.NET to remove advertisements, and something like 9.95 a month to Geocities for removal of advertisements and 50 megs of space. But now that my family has it's own server & domain, I'm slowly but surely saving stuff on to my domain. Eventually, I'll be able to get out of that crap trap by Geocities, but for the most part people who use Geocities just aren't going to be added to anyone's favorite links list, no matter how good the content.

I was thinking about setting up a domain on one of my servers for people to post Coaster media such as pics, avi's, Mpg's, and such.. It would be similar to geocities as each user would have their own space (user name). and yes, I would have ad free paid accounts and free accounts with ads.

No full content sites would be hosted, just the media and perhaps a directory page to access it.. so people can post their links to pics here or whatever. The difference is that I would not neccesarily restrict bandwidth as much as geocities or other such "free" hosting sites.

My question, would there be any interest for this?

Less than one hour after posting the link, the bandwidth is exceeded. Maybe that's why it's never been added?

i hate geocities sometimes. it has alot of features and is much less annoying than angel fire and some other free sites but it sucks that no one can view it. thanks for the explanation guys without yelling at me. I looked "5 replies" and I immediately thought everyone would be saying "your site sucks thats why its not on!"

That still doesn't explain why I don't get excepted. I have unlimited bandwidth, and my site hasn't shut down.

If I can't get to your site, I don't add it.

If it doesn't offer anything that hasn't been done before, I don't add it.

If it's not original content, I don't add it.

If I get slammed with two or more pop-ups on the same page, I don't add it.

The entire process is automated. If it's added to the database, it generates an e-mail. If I don't add it, it doesn't. That said, you've got about five seconds to capture my interest. I get at least 20 submissions per day and do not have the time or interest to hunt around for stuff.

Sorry, Mark. :) I once learned the hard way that liquids and computers don't mix! (There was an incident involving water and my laptop!) It could have been worse. I once saw a guy spill hot coffee all over his. There smoke and sparks. Pretty cool to watch!

I think it's good that there isn't a huge list of related links that are all pretty much the same site. That is what a search engine is for...

Well I have a new host at the same address. It has alot more space and 100 instead of 3 for bandwidth.

The web host is free and has NO ADS but I'm still useing cbj net to make it an shorter url. If you do see ads tell me and I'll just use the real url.
