sorry if this question has been asked before, but i'm new here: does six flags have any "original" Bolliger and Mabillard inverted designs. most of the ones ive been to have only had batman the ride clones. if there is any SF park with a "one of a kind" Bolliger and Mabillard inverted coaster please let me know.

Well, Great America's Batman the Ride is original. It is the first. One could make the case that SFStl's Batman is original as well because theirs is a mirror image clone and I believe the only mirror image clone.

I'm pretty sure that all B&M Inverterd coasters at Six Flags are Batman:TR. It's also called the Six Flags Standard model. Would a mirror clone of Batman count as an original?

In a possibly related question, with the exception of B:TR, does Six Flags have any B&M clones? I cannot think of any off the top of my head.

I checked rcdb, and all of SF's inverted B&Ms are B:TE's, so the only way is the mirror image at SFStl, or the original SFGAm.

I find it funny that this was the design the cloned. Its not that great of a design overall, the elements don't have a lot of pacing. The ride was designed to be crammed into a small space originally intended for a Schwarzkopf shuttle loop. Maybe thats why they cloned it, it's small. But i would think they could have used the available space at the other parks better.

Batman:TDK at SFNE is the first compact floorless design, by B&M. There is a similar ride in Taiwan, but the layout is a little different.

think about it, how much can actually building a coaster cost, not much. what you are paying for is the design, engineering and all the effort that goes into figureing out layouts and designs.... so building 'clones' is a great way to save millions of $$, especially beacuse most people only visit 1 to 2 six flags(ussualy the one closest to them) it makes great sense for the company!

Are you serious kiddo? That ride is one of the more intense inverts out there (save Talon/Nemesis)

I don't quite understand what Super7 meant when he said the elements have no pacing. If you mean that there is no time in between the elements, then yes that is correct. But what exactly are you getting at. The fact that the ride throws you from one element into the next without any time to catch your breath is what makes this a great ride. Every time I get off of a B:TR, my legs feel a little week and I have a great rush. The same can't be said for the other B&M invert I've ridden, Raptor. Now I love both rides, but B:TR offers non-stop action from the first drop to the brakes. Generally that is something that most people seem to prefer, rather than having MCBR's and 'dead' time in between elements.

I would put the money for Batman to another use though. For the price of Batman:The Ride you could build Magnum, Gwazi, Wild Thing, Wicked Twister, Mean Streak, Boulder Dash, Viper(SFMM), or even the Beast. I think it's pitty that you'd spend 10 million for this one ride when you could put more back into your wallet and by a much better ride.

Off topic, but I felt compelled to mention that I found it interesting that you'd use "intense" to describe Talon. I've been on 5 B&M inverts (Raptor, Fire Dragon, Ice Dragon, Montu and Talon) and of those five I'd consider Talon the least "intense". Possibly the most fun, but not what I'd call intense.

Just an observation.

2 pathetic inverts...are you nuts. Raptor is great, but IMHO Great Bear was better. Its nothing like anything else out there. All the B:TR are clones Alpie and Montu have similarities. There is a Raptor clone and I havent ridden Talon yet so cant say anything about it . The helix off the drop of GB is awesome and then the loop and immelmen(SP) is fantastic. Thats jsut my opinion, i could be wrong

He didn't mean the inverts are pathetic; he meant it's pathetic to have only been on two.

And it's not pathetic. I've only been on four, counting two B:TRs.
