Enjoy Driving

Does driving remind you of Roller Coasters in anyway. I haven't had the chance to experience driving yet cause i'm only 16 but people tell me that I will like driving becasue love roller coasters. They aslo said that I will be a stable driver because I can handle the G-Force?!?(strange)

That is strange about the g forces.. Driving is like anything else. At first, it's really exciting and liberating. Then the fun wears off, and then your parents just ask you to do favors for them (aka grocery store for milk).

I'm sure (comparing it to a coaster) the passanger seat isnt no different than driving, you get the same feelings. Its not like you drive a coaster train!

Driving reminds me of coasters when I drive down steep hills very fast and my stomach drops or when i turn too quickly and get thrown into the door like you get thrown on woodies. Also when i am on my bike (ninja) I get that feeling like i'm on a B&M hyper because I am out in the open.

Remotely... only when I make smooth but forcefull transitions after turns...I try to simulate the move MF makes when the train comes out the bunn hop/left hand bank into the straightaway. Smooth and strong is how it's done.

My favorite part is going down steep hills, with no gas, i let go of the gas and go as far as i can while staying at the speed limit, unless it is an open road, then i just go till i reach a slow speed and no more hills.

Well, driving can be very boring unless you have the right car. I highly recommend the Protege5, which I just bought yesterday, nicely equipped at $17,000. To me, it feels a lot like Millennium Force: high speed, doesn't need to brake much, smooth yet tight, and very comfortable seats. I get $50 if you buy one from my saleswoman Liz at Russel Mazda. If you got good roads and a decent car, driving can be a lot of fun. A little south of me on I-55, right around the Des Plains river, there's a road called Bluff Road, and it's full of steep hills and tight turns, and wow, if I've got a couple of hours to burn, that's a great thing to do with friends, go down there and drive it a couple of times. It's not a very busy road, but if anyone takes this advice and goes there, still, take caution for other drivers, the road isn't very wide, so an accident could easily occur.

the best place for positive and negative vertical g forces i the california desert region, places like death valley. trust me, those 8.5 earthquakes create big hills that feel EXACTLY like a roller coaster when going over the top of them at 80 mph. man it was fun.

I enjoy driving very much. I have pretty much driven all over the U.S. and now, lucky for me, am driving all over Germany, France, Belgium, Netherlands, and more. Driving on the autobahns in Germany can be very much like Millennium Force - extremely fast speeds with hardly any braking at all. In fact, people must get out of your way if you are approaching behind them. So one can easily cruise at 200 km/hr (124 mph). . .much faster than a Millennium Force :)

The average car however does not have upstop and side friction wheels, trim brakes, etc. I'm sure every driver reading coasterbuzz has put their foot down over a humpback bridge at some point, including me, to find a steep hill with set of traffic lights and a queue on the other side...(UK readers will know it, in Hanley on the way to Towers). We trust coasters cause we know their safety factor, but the open road has really no safety factor, and millions of everyday people just going about their business... think about it.

Ya haven't got to drive yet and you are only 16 say what?

Have rules changed or sumpin? I had drivers Ed when I was 15 and then on my 16th birthday I got my license and drove everywhere by myself the next day.

come on upto Upstate, NY...Latham to be exact. We'll hit River Road in my '98 GSX Eclipse. Its great on that road. Its got some hills, some sharp turns and its hardly ever patrolled by the cops :)

Ahhh, driving. To me, the only pasttime more sublime and enjoyable than our beloved coasters. For those of you who feel that driving is boring or passe', I say to you that you haven't had the right car or the right road. If you think that the best natural "high" is from a second or two of airtime, I say you can achieve that same state of euphoria with a good handling car, and a twisty abandoned road. Enjoy the diversity that the coaster world has to offer? You can find tenfold in the automotive arena, from the annals of history, to the progression of technology, to the competition of selling and racing. To me, I find ultimate satisfaction in the freedom, the excitement, the art, the science, the thrill, the mystique that is the connection between man and machine.

P.S. For those on a budget, Intamin Fan has it nailed. I've driven hundreds of different cars and trucks, and nothing gives the pure fun-to-drive per dollar value as a Protege5 (with a 5-speed stick, of course)

Ugh. For the longest time I was afraid of driving, but now I'm pretty cool about it. I drive around my town when I have to and I'm not scared anymore. I just wish there were more hills here so I could coast down them. :)
