Xcelerators over banked turn (OMG!)/predictions

Not only I saw pics on twistedrails.com, but I drove by today, and I can honestally say, that might be better than Goliaths. Now I've never been on Goliath at SFH, but lookin at pics, I'd say this looks pretty sweet, and there are two of them! Im guessing track will be done (incluing the tranfer piece) by Fri, and everything but that (transfer piece), by Tues-Wed(23-24th). Im saying testing will sttart next Tues (28th), and will open Tues May 11th (Tues), and the GRAND opening will be that Saturday (14th)

That coaster looks awesome. That would be cool if it opened then. But just as long as its opened by coastercon.

At Westcoaster, the most recent update says something about isolator pads. What do they do? I can see them, they are a buffer thing between the supports and track, but what do they do?

Acutally they keep the track how to say smoother/softer noise. And btw twisted rails has the most recent update

those twisted rails photos are very very good, and i must say they are 5 times as good as westcoaster's pictures (they have a better site overall). sfmmrider, i agree that the track will be done by next friday or sooner (as long as there are no wind gusts this week as there were last week- i bet Xcelerator tracking would have been complete by now if conditions were right). however, there is no way on this earth that they will be able to test xcelerator by the 28th. keep in mind they only work weekdays. The chrome and glass station needs to be completed before testing can begin. i say the station will be complete around may 08, testing will begin on the 13th, ending on the 22nd, with a media day on the 23rd (thursday before memorial day), and the grand opening will be the next day.

If knotts wants the landscaping to look like the conceptual art, then they can start after the track is completed and continue up until opening.

As of now there is literally 300 feet of track work left. The only track that is missing is the 2nd turn and the transfer track.

BTW, how do you think Xcelerator's landscaping and theming will turn out in real life. will it look like the concept art:

I don't think it will be the jungle that it is in the concept art! I hope for some trees and nice landscaping, but more importantly, I hope for good theming.

I have to think that the buildings used for the PLC and the launch mechanism will be themed as 1950's buildings. Plus it looks like a cool 50's station. I certainly hope for a strong theme, but I don't see the landscaping look like it does in the concept art.

I just hope the landscaping and theming is done before opening day, unlike with AIR, where there was just dirt under the ride!

They do NOT need to have the station complete before testing. See parks that do this waste opening time, and while they work on the station, they can test it, and get that of the way. The trees Im sure will just be planted and that wont take that long (maybe 2 days), and if they decide to grow them, than they while while the ride is open. They do SOMETIMES work on Saturdays, but I know the only day they dont is Sunday.When I was there on Sat however they only worked on the station. I have a feeling a May 18th opening, and if not that, than at least a May 18th special event riders event (maybe people with season passes), or maybe that'll start on the 14th (tues), and the opening will be the following tues, and they will have the 18th-20th (Sat-Mon) to work on final things, till the grand opening on the 21st! (Tues)

On that concept art u'll notice next to the Xcelerator entrance sign, there is a 50's lookin building, and that is around where the launch equipment is, so i guess thats what they will do to that, and for the plc I guess same things, and maybe hide it from the g/p, by surrounding trees by it

Now what will be SWEET is if they have those cars there (I acutally think they might) =)

as of now the station is just a couple of cement blocks and dirt- not much at all. they need a week or two.

I disagree Sfmmrider. I've never heard of a coaster testing without a mostly complete station... have you?

No way... Monty Jasper would never jump the gun with something like that. The ride can't test unless all the safety systems are in place anyway... and basically the whole station is one big safety sensor and safety brain... I highly doubt you even could test a ride unless the station was done.

Besides, would you want to expose all these systems to the elements and then turn them on? Walls protect all of these things... which makes it really hard for me you are correct about MF testing early... the station is 20 feet from the lake.

u dont even need a station, look at Flashback at SFMM they have NOTHING, and it works fine (well besides the ride it-self)

A couple things for SFMMrider. Do you realize how many times you have responded to this topic?

Second, of course Xcelerator's trains will look like 50's Chevys. Read the press release.

Third, the work crews of Xcelerator don't work on saturdays. I am there every saturday. They only work on weekdays.

As for testing without a station, I doubt that they will until the station is at least cemented properly. Anyway, I for one haven't even seen the trains on site yet, though they probably are.

No as cars, I meant like the ones out in the front of the ride, not the trains on the ride itself. And I was there like 3 Sats ago, and I swear they were workin on the station.

ive seen X-Flight test with station being built. All the need done is the floor and control panel, which can be done without a whole station.

sfmmrider, I bet those cars will be out there because:

1. Cedar Point has cars just like that at Coasters, their 50's restuarant.

2. Why else would they even be in the picture?
