I suppose it could take six hours to drive from CP to Buffalo but ... it's never taken me more than 4.5, and then about 90 minutes for the Buffalo-Toronto leg, for six hours total. There's also two ways you can do it - the U.S. route (Sandusky - Buffalo, cross the border, drive to T.O.), or the Canadian route (Sandusky - Detroit, cross the border, then Windsor - T.O.).
The Canuck route is actually faster - you can do Sandusky to Windsor in under two hours easy, and then it's only about 3.5 hours from Windsor to Toronto. I've done both several times, and usually choose the U.S. route - a bit more to see, and of course cheaper gas ...

Wonderland is a great park.
I have been several times and always am amazed at how new it looks. They do an outstanding job at keeping everything fresh and clean.
It is also flat ride heaven. I am much more of a park enthusiast than I am a coaster enthusiast. The overall package means a lot to me. The atmosphere and overall diversity of rides at PCW makes it a standout park IMO.
But they also have great coasters too. the woodies are really fun,. As others have mentioned, Vortex is an awesome suspended. It is nearly identical to Top Gun at PKI, yet a bit more thrilling due to location.
But then I would expect nothing less from a Paramount Park ;-)

The one thing I might suggest is waiting to go until the fall when the Ontario Provincial Expo is on down on the Toronto docks, they get a lot of interesting rides at that including a Scwarzkopf Dopple Looping amongst other fun stuff.
As others have said the route going through Windsor is faster from CP *but* there *are* some advantages to taking the longer way, if you have the time. The Niagara region has several smallish parks that make great stop-overs on a longer trip. Martin's Fantasy Island has a nice CCI woodie (Silver Star) which many people have raved about. Marine Land Canada in Niagara is home to a huge Arrow Mega Terrain Looper and SFDL is of course home to the first SROS.

Hey, as long as Canada's Wonderland is adding new rides year after year, I'm perfectly happy! They aren't neglecting the park in the least.
I'd say this year is a pretty busy year. And just to remind you, they did get a new coaster for '01, the Silver Streak which was cloned at PKI as Runaway Reptar... and yes, I know it's a kiddie coaster.
Flat rides are great... they just need one single head-turning attraction to grab away the lines from a lot of their other rides.
I definately cannot wait until they open in the summer so I can check out the newly improved waterpark!!
That said I see the park installing *something* large up at the front of the park in the next couple of years. My friend Iain and I have discussed the possibility of an Intamin Mega Coaster around or over the water in that area several times and it just seems logical. PCW already has a nice collection of other things, a hyper just seems like the next logical step. Not that I wouldn't settle for a Huss Jump 2 instead but I'm weird like that :-)

Well, I complain about the park as much as anybody, but I have to admit, it is a pretty nice park. With a well rounded collection of coasters, some insane flat rides (Psyclone is now up, and is taller than the Minebuster...), and a large selection of kids rides, the park is quite nice.
They also have the huge waterpark too.
If anyone's at the park this summer, let me know, as I'm operating Vortex and Shockwave.

PCW began my love for roller coasters.
I was in 9th grade (I'll be graduated for 3 years this June, you do the math) and our marching band director decided it would be great for us to go to Toronto. First stop.. PCW! As I'm walking through the park with 3 other friends, I spotted Vortex. Being afraid of coasters, mind you, I told them, that ride looked GREAT and I had to ride it. After repeatedly asking them if it went upside-down (yeah, I wasn't quite ready for that yet), I hopped in the car, thinking OHMIGOD the entire way up the lift. I screamed through the WHOLE ride, got off.. and decided to go again.
They also have the BEST pizza I've ever eaten. Someone take me back, please!!

PCW is my home park. It has a lot of good rides but no signature ride. Minebuster is probably the best coaster - loads of airtime. The park will not be expanding any time soon. They have built subdivision upon subdivision in the area. What was surrounded by open fields ten years ago is completely surrounded by homes now. I would recommend it to anyone who has never visited. Not only do you get a very favourable exchange rate but there is a lot to do in the city. One tip - school gets out later in Ontario than it does in the US. The park will be nearly dead on weekdays until the last week of June.

I've been there a few times in the past (early June, as I recall), and the park was really really crowded. Judging from the ages of most of the people, I'd say they were probably school groups.
So when is the least crowded time to go? Just before school gets out? Or just after school gets out but before the summer crowds get there?
BTW, one time I was there I saw one of the actresses from the TV series "Degrassi Street," which was on public television a few years ago.

The CNE runs from mid August through Labour Day so don't wait till the fall or you will miss it. CNE can be very busy.

Dave is correct in his answer that any date prior to July 1st is generally a great time to visit Wonderland. But there is a chance that park could be packed on one these days. Generally during the spring weekdays the park clears out just after 5:00 PM when the buses are making their way back home.
