I too, have noticed people in line exaggerating about stats, deaths, whatever. I was also at SFMM on 11/10, and in the Batman line I overheard a kid saying that Goliath was the fastest coaster in the world. I wanted to chime in and say "Well, it used to be..." but didn't because I hate when people interrupt my conversations, so why would I do the same. Now, when I become my alter ego, Captain Jackass, I tend to make sarcastic comments about what kids say in line, to mess with them. You should try it, it's fun! ;) Anyways, my point is essentially the same as everyone elses: it doesn't matter what people say about the coaster. All they want to do is ride it. They could really care less about who built it, when it was built, how long it is or how many different bolts were used to build it. That's why they are the general public and we are the coaster enthusiasts. The two go hand in hand, and one cannot survive without the other. If we didn't have the GP, then we would be coaster history lovers, not enthusiasts, because all the coasters would be closed. Think about that. :)
