ANYBODY REMEMBER?
How about an "anybody remember" page for such musings, and indeed, for unearthingh old memories and info, such as:
ANYBODY REMEMBER an old park in Ohio, near Akron, called Chippewa Lake, and if so, the coaster's name?
This was my first park and coaster, and I cannot find any info on it. It's bigger cousin, Geauga Lake, is now six Flags, I guess.

On the original version of Coasterbuzz, there was a forum for defunct parks. While it was a great idea, sadly, that forum saw very little traffic.

Just to expand, not just a "anybody remember?" for defunct parks, but more as a "catchall" catagory.....like for those who have had their brains fried from way-too-many-inversions and cannot remember the name of a ride or park somewhere.
Found my defunct park--Chippewa Lake, Medina Ohio--on a separate websearch...very depressing photos of the overgrowth on my coaster, called by the way: "Coaster" Imagine that. Oh well, another piece of my childhood dead..this one really bothered me though.
Better find a coaster to ride!
As you're from PITT, is Kennywood as cool as it looked when I saw it on Discovery? I think the show explained the owner's thought process as he
figured out how to run the steel coaster through the existing woody. Anyway, the woody looks terrific. Down in the ravine etc...

Well, if you live near Medina Oh, I definitly recommend the 2 hour drive to Kennywood!! The Discovery Special really did not do the park too much justice (sure it covered some of Kennywood's best coasters,) but the charm of the classic park feel is indescribable!
Not to mention, Kennywood is one of the cheapest Amusement Park venues around (free parking, and $21.95 admission in 2000) you can't go wrong with that!!

Appreiciate it, Neil. Grew up in Akron, now live just north of Ft Lauderdale.
Have a great coaster-kid, nearly 10, who has spent the past two years feverishly figgerin' out which shoes will get her on the 54" inch rides at BGTB, IOA, etc.
Anyway, if all goes okay, next year she will be playing a softball tourney in Atlanta.
So, I say to my southern wife: "You know, if I'm already in Atlanta, Cincinnati is pretty close!"
Then I give the pki details, although I was only there in the 70s.
She gets excited (good woman!). So I start planning--yippee! And I remember Kennywood. This is EXACTLY the type of park I grew up with, and I want my daughter to experience it--never mind me, right?
Now, I have to find a special pass that allows Browns' fans into Pitt!Better leave my colors in the closet!
Anyway, heres hoping--bigtime. And you really got it with the pricing up there--it's amazing, considering what they bilk me for in FLA.
If it all comes off, and admittedly very ambitious, hope to meet you there!

bukweetfl: If you can convince someone that Cincinatti is anwywhere near Atlanta, you need to be selling freezers to Eskimos (lol). This summer, I drove from Atlanta to Louisville (about 45min south of the 'natti) and it took about 8hrs. And I wasn't driving "gramdma style" either....I have the speeding ticket on my record to prove it =]

For 2Hostyl: Howdy! I think your right about distances, but I'm just an old Ohio boy who hasn't been anywhere near the place in 20+ years.
As we are going to be in Atlanta (GA!) next summer, and doing SFG, and having more time to spend, Kings Island LEAPED into my mind!
Probably because I used to ride I-75 as a kid every year, and it was much shorter between Cin and Atl than it did getting the rest of the way to Miami. Thus Cincy is close to Atlanta.....and God Bless my wife for agreeing!
Anyway, with 3 weeks, wanted to see SFG, on to PKI, then to Kennywood, then back to FL the eastern route, which goes through PKD, BGW, and PC (who wrote this travel-route!?). Sounds sick, huh?
I read where the Paramount season passes are good at all the parks. Any catch? Like do I have to be a resident of the state or something?
