Your season wrap-up: park by park
The season is more or less done for most of us, aside from a few weekend trips. For each park you visited, give me two or three sentences about your experience.
Kennywood: Went twice, loved it. The charm and history combined with good food and classic coasters make this, well, a classic! Glad to see Phantom go, looking forward to the replacement.
Six Flags Ohio: The new rides are some of the best of their breed, but world-class rides make not a world-class park. They need to take a hard look at their operations for next year. No park should have so many accidents.
Cedar Point: Millennium Force is a home run. Long lines for it thinned out the rest of the park most of the summer. Millennium Mania was a hit and I had a great time there this summer.
Paramount's Kings Island: Some of my favorite coasters are here but the movie cheese and food prices are out of control. Visited during the start of the Sonny fiasco so I still haven't been on it. Will try next weekend if time and weather permits. Trying very hard to like this park as I did in the "old days."
Six Flags America: Nice little park, but inadequate staff to run the place was irritating. Great coasters, and I won't hold the Ride of Steel chain break against them.
Busch Gardens Williamsburg: If it was in my backyard, I'd like it better than Cedar Point. It's a beautiful park with best-in-class coasters. Apollo is a new and strong favorite.
Paramount's Kings Dominion: Lots of coasters but full of Paramount cheese. Volcano is outstanding, but it's the only coaster that I felt was a "must ride." I hope Hypersonic will be their "killer app" for next year.
Six Flags Great America: All Six Flags parks are not created equal. While a little rough in certain operational aspects, this park is far and away my favorite Six Flags park so far. The B&M's are outstanding and the park is beautiful.

I agree with Busch Gardens Williamsburg. It doesn't offer a ton of rides like Cedar Point, but it is just a beautiful park and the rides they do have are incredible. Other parks need to emulate BGW.
Millenium Force was a smash...truly the smoothest. most thrilling coaster I have been on.
SFO's new rides are excellent, but the park is a mess. They need to put money into better maintenance. Also, they need to hire more employees. I can't tell you how many times rides were closed because staff was lacking.
Kings Island is a fun park, but I never understood the fact that all the major coasters are congested in one area. It makes the park look small. Still, a superior park.

Okay, here goes...
Six Flags Darien Lake: Granted, it's not the best park out there, and it does have it's problems, but since it was my home park (I just moved), I love it anyway. Superman: Ride of Steel is a wonderful coaster, and I will miss the laserlight show. There is lots of room to expand, so Darien Lake will only get better in the years to come.
Martin's Fantasy Island: Small, but nice, with the nice addition of Silver Comet, a 1999 CCI with steel structure. The flume WILL drench you. And free parking!!
Six Flags Great Adventure- Big park with some great coasters. The Chiller was my first LIM, and it's one of my favorites, headbanging or not.
Magic Kindom: Not many thrill rides, but still a favorite park of mine. Can't beat the Disney atmosphere.
Epcot: Test Tack is fun, and the park itself is beautiful. Illuminations 2000: Reflections of Earth is great. Saw it once- it was ok, with repeated viewings, it really grew on me. I just love fireworks that go with music.
Disney Studios: Tower of Terror and Rock n' Rollercoaster are absolute musts. For me, the themeing adds a lot to the rides.
Animal Kingdom: The day we were there was way too hot, but the attractions we saw were good. I especially liked Dinosaur and It's Tough to Be a Bug. Kali River Rapids was kinda a let down.
Hersheypark: We went here after WDW. It was a nice transition from the "magic" of Disney to the pavement of Six Flags (Darien Lake). Kind of a mix of the 2 extremes. Lightning Racer is really great.
Islands of Adventure: Wow, I love this park. Wonderful themeing, and the coasters and other rides are astouding.

Cedar Point: Me and my friends have ALWAYS had a good time at this park. Never had a bad experience. I think this is a great amusement park and me and my friends will definitely return.
SixFlagsOhio: I know opinions may differ on this one, but again, I didn't have a bad time on my visits here. I think most of their coasters are enjoyable and rank right up there with CP, IMO. Definitely returning next year.
SixFlagsGreatAmerica: I am very impressed with this park. From the rides to the shows. Me and my friends had an awesome time here and with the addition(s) of the new coasters they are getting Im definitely returning. (Still can't get over how good BatmanTR and Viper are)
SixFlagsStLouis: This park is very scenic, but I really only enjoyed two coasters there. (The Boss and Mr.Freeze). This park is very well landscaped, but as usual the SixFlags chain is ignoring the small parks. I had a goodtime there, its just they are really short some coasters. I doubt if I return, well, if they get another steel coaster.
BuschGardensTampa:Dayuum! I dont know what to say about this park. Its flawless, IMO. Every coaster I liked, even Python believe it or not. This is a must to visited next year, hopefully.
IslandsofAdventure/Universal Studious: Words can describe both parks, especially IslandsofAdventure. I was blown away by the visuals of the parks and the themeing. I HAVE to visit this park next year.
SeaWorldFlorida: Really nice park. Even though I was their for a short period of time, I still enjoyed myself. Great Place to take your family and with the addition of Kraken, this place will attract alot of teens.

You're right, the only other park visit that I'll likely get this year is back to the ol' home park so in order of visitation.
Paramount's Carowinds Top Gun is the most awesome B&M invert I'm ridden. Thunder Road is a great little racer. Park really needs some more flat rides.
Six Flags America I really like my new home park. Minimal waits, friendly staff, good selection of flats and of course the marvelous S:ROS.
Universal Orlando IOA's themeing is really over the top. Fire, Ice, and Spidey were really well done. Hulk was a bit of a let down. On the USF side, MIB & BTTF:TR are two great non-coasters.
Six Flags Great America My former home park and sentimental fave. RB seems to have gotten better. Loved that the trims on Shockwave and American Eagle were turned down. Viper it's usual wonderful self.
Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom Terrible layout, dirty in most places, nice ride ops (especially on Breakdance), T-SistersDDM, Chang was great!
Paramount's Kings Island Now one of my top 3 faves. Sonny was great, not rough to me. Vortex gives great air/hang time. Finally got to ride poppa beast and loved the helix, the rest ehh.
Big Chief's Karts and Coasters Cyclops, my first CCI was fabulous, giving standing air. Zeus with the speed bump from hell, and Pegasus with the most wicked lateral on a "family" coaster. Loved the go-cart tracks. The bathrooms were downright disgusting!!!
Six Flags Ohio Great little park. S:UE was fun but not very thrilling, BD was SBNO, B:KF favorite sitdown, RWB gives standing air, Villian rides more like a twister than anything. 'G' trains hurt *STILL rubbing leg*
Cedar Point The final top 3 park. Very Crowded. Slow food/ticket lines. MF was really delightful, especially at night. Wildcat was suprisingly potent.

Here is my short list of parks, since I just got into coasters again this year. Next year, I hope to hit a few more parks.
Cedar Point: I hit this park 10 times this summer, and that's above how many times I usually go per year. Can't really complain about much - Millennium was everything I dreamed it would be and more - but I just hope the park focuses next year on giving some of their rides (like Mantis and the Blue Streak) paint jobs. I hate to see the Frontier Trail eroding away to nothing, but I suppose the Millennium Force is a fair trade.
King's Island: I have nothing to complain about this park, either. I understand it is often bashed in these forums, but I must have caught it on a really good day. Staff was friendly, and the atmosphere and landscaping is so much more scenic than Cedar Point. I even had an EXCELLENT meal there in the Montgomery Inn ribs. The "movie cheese," as Jeff called it, really didn't bother me too much, but I agree the park would be so much nicer without it. The wait for Sonny was 20 minutes, and all the other waits were also incredibly short (except Face/Off, of course). The only downer was the thunderstorm that moved in late at night that kept me from my night ride on the Beast. Oh well, next year!

I guess no amusement park is bad, and crowds were light the day I was there, so I had an enjoyable time. I did get a little peeved about the ways the ride ops ran things. Still, after hearing horror stories of other people on these forums, I suppose I also caught this park on a good day. I'll go back next year just to buy a season pass to use on my trip to SFGAm.
As for next year, besides the CP pass, I'm looking at a major trip to Chicago for SFGAm, Michigan's Adventure (HOPEFULLY), a side trip to SFO and K渀渀礀眀漀漀搀Ⰰ 愀渀搀 愀 琀爀椀瀀 琀漀 倀䬀䤀 愀渀搀 䄀洀攀爀椀挀愀渀愀⸀ 䤀 挀愀渀✀琀 眀愀椀琀 琀椀氀氀 渀攀砀琀 猀甀洀洀攀爀⸀

SFGam: My home park changed very little with the addition of the Russian Circus. Shockwave was running good, as American Eagle (what's up with the blue side closings?)
CP: First visit to the park for Coastermania. I really liked CP, and I visited it again for MM and Halloweekends. I don't need to go on about MF, but my other biggest suprise was the night rides on Magnum.
SFoG: I don't see how this park doesn't recieve more attention. Nice, big selection of rides. One of the world's best sitdown loopers(Mind Bender), standup's(Georgia Scorcher) and my fav. woodie(GA Cyclone). Very well landscaped, but kind of lacking in the trash pickup dept.
SFO: Nice, little park with some unique rides. B:KF wasn't that memorable except for it being my first floorless. SUE was very freakish and Villain was nice also. Next time, I will schedule a later Amtrak train departure, so I can spend more than 3 hours at the park.

I feel so fortunate to have the likes of Aero 360, Exterminator, Jack Rabbit, Thunderbolt and Noah's Ark practically in my back yard! Steel Phantom; two words - good riddence!
Idlewild: A charming little park in the woods! If and when I have kids, this will be their first park!
Six Flags Ohio: I just want the Villian to be built in my backyard, you can have the rest of the park!
Coney Island: The Cyclone is another "best of the best!" Everything else was pretty much average. But I usually have too much to do when I go to NYC anyway.
Alton Towers: If only this park wasn't plagued by the typical soggy weather that seems to be a mainstay in the UK (and if only I had more than a 1/2 day to visit,) I would cross the pond anytime to visit! Nemesis was truly the best inverted I have ever been on, the theming was downright amazing! Black Hole and Hex were also memorable. Oblivion, though disappointing that it is such a short ride, it was truly a unique experience!
Cedar Point: This park never ceases to amaze me! Millennium Force simply took my breath away, and forced right back in me after everytime I made that 310' plunge! My season pass came in very handy this year;)! The Giant Wheel's new home is where it should have been all along!
Though 2000 has been a 'light' year as far as amusement park visits. The new experiences that I had made this the most memorable year!

Holiday World: I can certainly see why people rave about this park. Great rides, great atmosphere, super friendly staff, and the unheard of unlimited free drink policy. Raven is awesome, but I think Legend is even better.
Cedar Point: My favorite park just keeps getting better. Millennium Force is simply amazing.
Six Flags Ohio: I had a great time on all three of my visits. Batman, Villain, and Superman are all terrific. Hopefully something will be done in the off-season about those Gerstlauer trains. Still a lot of room for improvement, but I liked this park.
Paramount's King's Island: We were only there for a few hours, but the park was just as nice as always. Son of Beast was fun, but it wasn't exactly what I expected.
Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom: Let's see: terrible food, rude employees, overflowing trash cans, dirty restrooms, and closed rides (BOTH sides of Twisted Sisters). Very disappointing, but not as bad as SFNE.
Hersheypark: Beautiful park, great variety of rides, and good food. Lightning Racer is easily the smoothest wooden coaster in existence, and it's one of my new all-time favorites.
Six Flags New England: This park needs a LOT of work. Superman is phenomenal, but it was running only 1 train and breakdowns were frequent. Hands down the filthiest park we have ever been to.
Lake Compounce: Small park with a wonderful charm to it. Boulder Dash is the best wooden coaster I have ever ridden -- airtime galore, infinitely re-ridable, and a most unique setting. Wasn't overly crowded, even on a Saturday.
Disney/MGM Studios: Still my favorite Disney park. Rock 'n Roller Coaster is just plain fun, and smooth as silk. Tower of Terror is still the best drop ride I have ever ridden, and the theming is second to none.

Cedar Point: My favorite park just keeps getting better. Millennium Force is simply amazing.
Six Flags Ohio: I had a great time on all three of my visits. Batman, Villain, and Superman are all terrific. Hopefully something will be done in the off-season about those Gerstlauer trains. Still a lot of room for improvement, but I liked this park.
Paramount's King's Island: We were only there for a few hours, but the park was just as nice as always. Son of Beast was fun, but it wasn't exactly what I expected.
Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom: Let's see: terrible food, rude employees, overflowing trash cans, dirty restrooms, and closed rides (BOTH sides of Twisted Sisters). Very disappointing, but not as bad as SFNE.
Hersheypark: Beautiful park, great variety of rides, and good food. Lightning Racer is easily the smoothest wooden coaster in existence, and it's one of my new all-time favorites.
Six Flags New England: This park needs a LOT of work. Superman is phenomenal, but it was running only 1 train and breakdowns were frequent. Hands down the filthiest park we have ever been to.
Lake Compounce: Small park with a wonderful charm to it. Boulder Dash is the best wooden coaster I have ever ridden -- airtime galore, infinitely re-ridable, and a most unique setting. Wasn't overly crowded, even on a Saturday.

Lots of "firsts" for me, this year, mostly because it was my first season as an "enthusiast."
SFMM Always a great park. Goliath is a great addition, and a unique hyper with the +G's. Needs a better woodie, but you already knew that. Riddler's STILL the biggest and baddest standup in the world!
Knott's Berry Farm My first year purchasing a season pass for the Farm, why?... Ghostrider. Got about 50 laps and will be riding it all winter. Too bad about The Plunge's delays, but once it opened, WOW! I hope Intamin gets the bugs out of this design, if you have to get on a flume, this is the one to go on!!
Holiday World Proves that you do not have to spend a fortune for a day of fun. Excellent value, free drinks, and 2 CCI's. Incredibly friendly staff. Also proves that total coaster count matters little when the 2 you have are so excellent. Raven was my favorite there.
Paramount's King's Island Busy busy busy! Long lines, but that is all part of the equasion. SOB was closed all day, I was VERY upset, but public reaction was mixed at best, so that made it a little better. The Beast... awesome as ever.
Cedar Point My first visit ever to "America's Roller Coast." Made it on all 12 large coasters on another busy day. Long lines, but CP really is the king of capicity. All coasters were running maximum number of trains all day, fast loading, fast dispatches, big props to ride ops here. Millennium Force...wow! Magnum, double wow, I thought this would be like Desperado, wrong, Magnum rocks!!
Michigan's Adventure Two words... Shivering Timbers. My new #1 coaster, yes, over The Force. Airtime like I never thought possible. Zach's Zoomer was fun too, all in all a well rounded park. Horrible cheeseburgers and poor service at the burger stand. I am SO glad I took the extra day to go here.
Las Vegas Had to ride Speed, great fun. SFMM Always a great park. Goliath is a great addition, and a unique hyper with the +G's. Needs a better woodie, but you already knew that. Riddler's STILL the biggest and baddest standup in the world!
Knott's Berry Farm My first year purchasing a season pass for the Farm, why?... Ghostrider. Got about 50 laps and will be riding it all winter. Too bad about The Plunge's delays, but once it opened, WOW! I hope Intamin gets the bugs out of this design, if you have to get on a flume, this is the one to go on!!
Holiday World Proves that you do not have to spend a fortune for a day of fun. Excellent value, free drinks, and 2 CCI's. Incredibly friendly staff. Also proves that total coaster count matters little when the 2 you have are so excellent. Raven was my favorite there.
Paramount's King's Island Busy busy busy! Long lines, but that is all part of the equasion. SOB was closed all day, I was VERY upset, but public reaction was mixed at best, so that made it a little better. The Beast... awesome as ever.
Cedar Point My first visit ever to "America's Roller Coast." Made it on all 12 large coasters on another busy day. Long lines, but CP really is the king of capicity. All coasters were running maximum number of trains all day, fast loading, fast dispatches, big props to ride ops here. Millennium Force...wow! Magnum, double wow, I thought this would be like Desperado, wrong, Magnum rocks!!
Michigan's Adventure Two words... Shivering Timbers. My new #1 coaster, yes, over The Force. Airtime like I never thought possible. Zach's Zoomer was fun too, all in all a well rounded park. Horrible cheeseburgers and poor service at the burger stand. I am SO glad I took the extra day to go here.

Seeing as I'm a college student and I'm always a tad strapped for cash I only hit four parks this year. Ok, enough with the lame excuses and on with my opinions! ;)
Valleyfair!: My home park, although Adventureland is the same distance away I tend to stand with Valleyfair!. Great rides on the Wild Thing, short lines for the Excalibur, and the Hydroblaster on a hot day is always a blast (no pun intended). The fireworks/light show really blows though.
Adventureland: Tornado was showing its age when I visited, and the ever simplistic double looper Dragon is crying out for a paint job. The Outlaw was awesome and on the whole Adventureland has great ride ops. Food at anyplace other then the Iowa section of the park sucks though. However, you must make a trip just for the parks pork burger.
Six Flags St. Louis: Freeze and the Boss, and B:TR are great. Pricing on food is nuts and their mine ride is above average. I didn't think the scenery was that great, but then again this is the only SF park I've been to.
Arnolds Park: Had a great time. The park is a living legend of all of those great trolley parks back in the days of old. Only has one coaster (its one of the oldest ones in the world.) and right now the park has finally picked itself up off the ground from recession and is starting to turn it around. Great afternoon trip.

Silver Dollar City- Love the place. Food is good, it is clean, and the 1880's themeing is awesome. Not many thrills in the lineup but Wildfire will take care of that.
Six Flags St. Louis- Very well kept up in landscaping, and it is very well shaded. THE BOSS ROCKS!!!!! if you can NEVER ride another coaster in your life except for one, i would pick the boss! This coaster blew me away, slightly rough in the beginning of the year, but it has improved. Mr. Freeze was very good and i found it to be quite smooth. Screamin Eagle is a good classic and Batman the ride is just like all the others. Ninja was also quite fun.

Walt Disney World: Splash Mountain is the all time greatest flume. Space Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad are cool. Lot's of rides with the name "railroad" in them.
MGM Studios: Rock N' Rollercoaster and Tower of Terror are a must. Great Atmosphere here.
Islands of Adventure: The themeing capital of the world! Three B&M greats and a cool suspended coaster.
PGA: Stealth rocked. Demon and Invertigo suprised me. Lacking good wood.
SCBB: Giant Dipper is a classic. I love the location of this park.
SFMW: Why are all the coasters in one part of the park. My first GCI and Floorless, both were great.

DisneyLand - Good old fashioned fun as always. Matterhorn is still great as is Thunder Mountain and Pirates of the Carribean.
Bank One Ballpark - Food prices too expensive but the air conditioning is great.
Banff National Park - Still beautiful, it even snowed there this summer.
SafeCo Field - Wonderful park to see a ballgame. The coaster, err railroad that goes by is awesome.
Six Flags Marine World - No Lines! Roar is easily the best ride in the park complimented nicely by Medusa. The animals make a nice addition when you just wanna kick back for a bit.
Pacific Bell Park - Nice place to see a game. The Coke bottle slide is awesome if you wear polyester.
Six Flags Magic Mountain - Ah the King of parks. This place is always great. Light crowds the two days there meant short lines. Goliath is a good fun ride but the helix didnt hit my like I was hoping. Also the overgrown trees and weeds on Revolution and Gold Rusher made for some classic rides.
San Diego Zoo - Hey it's just awesome. The Skyfari rocks.

Bank One Ballpark - Food prices too expensive but the air conditioning is great.
Banff National Park - Still beautiful, it even snowed there this summer.
SafeCo Field - Wonderful park to see a ballgame. The coaster, err railroad that goes by is awesome.
Six Flags Marine World - No Lines! Roar is easily the best ride in the park complimented nicely by Medusa. The animals make a nice addition when you just wanna kick back for a bit.
Pacific Bell Park - Nice place to see a game. The Coke bottle slide is awesome if you wear polyester.
Six Flags Magic Mountain - Ah the King of parks. This place is always great. Light crowds the two days there meant short lines. Goliath is a good fun ride but the helix didnt hit my like I was hoping. Also the overgrown trees and weeds on Revolution and Gold Rusher made for some classic rides.
San Diego Zoo - Hey it's just awesome. The Skyfari rocks.

I won't count the Disney parks or IOA since I go to them pretty much all the time.
PKI - Great to ride the Beast again at night. SoB was pretty good although painful to the legs. Overall great fun, but please get rid of Outer Limits before someone dies of head trauma!
Cedar Point - 1st trip, but won't be the last! MF met all my expectations and then some. Actually the whole park did! I completely enjoyed both days there (except the rain).
SFO - Ummmm, I don't think there's enough room or time for me to gripe about this so we'll just call it a learning experience.
Sea World Orlando - Yeah, OK so I go to this park all the time too, but had to say what a great time Kraken is! Especially riding in the front! Great airtime! Still a nice family park.
Busch Gardens Tampa - Jury is still out on Gwazi as I have only ridden it once and was rather disappointed. Overall the park is well laid out and still good fun for a weekend.

and did a good job controlling crowds. Millennium Force, amazing, I had the edge because I knew how to use the ticket system!! Being able to ride three times in one hour is amazing. Keep it up CP!!(P.S Thank You JHeff for teaching me how to ride the Mantis comfortablly!!) 4 visits
King's Island: Wow! Impressive. Not perfect, but the Son certainly impressed me. The Beast was great, but not mind-blowing. Two MAJOR suprises. Vortex and Outer Limits! HOLY CRAP. These two made it right into my top ten list. Call me crazy, but I loved the fact that those trains were trying to snap my neck right in half. The games there are great. I have never won at these games and came home with a butt load! (P.S Kudos to the Racer backwards. My lap bar got notched two latches two far, but that ride was crazy.) 1 two day trip.
Michigan's Advenure: My favorite carnival on steroids. MAJOR steroids. Shivering Timbers by far the best woodie I have ever been on. The airtime is beyond incredible. Couple some other neat attractions with NO waits, and one crazy experience it does make. I need MORE of the Timbers. Only one trip. (P.S Don't overlook Zach's Zoomer, besides being terrified of odd restraints, I caught some good air and laterals.
