"Ya know, It's kinda funny, Millennium Force's lights on the lift hill are controlled by a simple on-off light switch, not unlike one you may have in your room to control the lights. I was suprised... I guess I was expecting some massive lever that required two people to pull down to get the lights started.
In case anyone is wondering exactly what those lights are, I am pretty sure that they are:

...but they may be the previous model that was offered from this company (I know that Power Tower uses lights like these, as I've seen them). I was gonna say you were wrong about what controls the lights, becuase typically lights like these need a specialized controller, but then I saw on the web site that they have a built in memory for for up to 32 steps of programming. However, it would still be more accurate to say that a switch controls their power, not the lights themselves (and I would still think that they use a controller so they can program different color schemes for different occasions).
Working with programmable, aka "intelligent" lighting is my profession - http://lighting.dynamicgroove.com
I hope someday to work in a park, 'cause I have some great ideas for special effects lighting for coasters.
