Those are not brakes of any sort. They are sensors. When the train passes them, the chain lift turns itself off. I can't seem to find the pic of the top of the drop WITH the sensors in view, but if I find it, I'll show you, and you'll be able to see they cannot move (therefore they can NOT be a brake)

TrBigger: those look pretty big for sensors. not that I'm saying you're wrong 'cause God knows I know s*** when it comes to the mechanics of coasters, but the really, really look like brakes.
