Worlds Tallest Coasters?

I was wondering if anyone knows what coasters have held the "Worlds Tallest" status, and what coaster was next to break the record.

I know recently its been Fujiyama, Goliath, Millennium Force, and now Steel Dragon. Some other coasters I know that have held the record include, Tidal Wave, American Eagle, Shockwave (all at SFGAm) Magnum, Pepsi Max, among others...

And if anyone knows, what was the first coaster to break the 100 ft. mark, or was that achieved fairly easily?

The world's tallest coaster at oen time was Viper at SFMM I belive its 188 ft high. Super Man the escape is the worlds highest "coaster" at 400 ft but it is not a full circut.

I think the Beast at one time was the tallest, fastest, and longest roller coaster in the world when it opened, but I could be wrong. Does anyone know if that was true?

No, it was the tallest, fastest woody when it opened but it was the longest coaster overall until just this year with SD2K in Japan. I am pretty sure this is true but if I am wrong than someone please clarify. On another note, the Beast is still the longest woody and will continue to stay that way for a long time to come.

A few corrections...

Viper (SFMM) was never the tallest, it opened after Magnum XL200. It was the tallest looping coaster until the Steel Phantom. So, I suppose it is once again the tallest looping? Unless you count Manhattan Express. It has a height of 204 feet, but the drop is only 144.

The Beast's record of longest coaster was beaten in 1991 by The Ultimate. It is in the United Kingdom with a total length of 7542 feet, beating The Beast by a mere 142 feet.

Desperado (225 feet) was the tallest/fastest before Fujiyama. The rest of the hypers (Wild Thing, AC, RB, Steel Force, Mamba, Pepsi Max) are all around 200-215 feet.

I think Steel Phantom at one time heald the record of longest drop, but not the tallest, as the drop lead into a deep ravine.

According to the book "Cedar Point Queen of American Watering Places" Gemini debuted as the tallest coaster at 125 feet when it opened it 1978.

Actually since Steel Phantom is gone SOB is now the tallest looping coaster (if you count woodies) at 218'

Many people forget about SOB, the only reason I thought of it was because I had heard someone mention it on another post a few weeks ago.

Yea... Wee want Hyperloopers, and lots of 'em... This 3H crap (hills, hops, and helixes for the acronym impaired) is actually getting old. (I never thought i would say that about a hyper coaster when i first rode steel force...)

But if a loop is all positive Gs, peolple shouldn't even thinka bout OTSRs

In 1927, a 138-foot woodie was built, named Blue Streak, which was quite an accomplishment more than 7 decades ago.

The Beast was longest in America. The world's longest coaster was in England, named the Ultimate. It's the same track design as the Gemini.
In Robert Cartmell's book, there's a coaster shown that was the world's tallest for like fifty years. Was it the Cyclone at Puritas Springs(sp?)? It was either 120 or 140 feet tall depending on who you listened to. Until Gemini, it had the record.
