But the amazing thing about that trip to Kings Island was, the Bat was there and operating. My father stood me up on the short brick wall that still exists by the Shake, Rattle and Roll. We stood there for Lord knows how long just marveling at the Bat. I would not ride, and my Dad did not push me. He was smart that way.
That same summer I worked up the nerve to ride the Loch Ness Monster at BGW. I rode with my first girlfriend ever, and she kissed me afterwards. Of course, time has passed and many things have changed. But one thing remains, I was hooked on coasters and have never looked back.
207 coasters later, I still can't get enough and still kick myself for not riding the Bat. But I attribute the Bat as the actual catalyst for my fascination.

Not MLK's words but mine..I have a Dream! I have a DREAM! I HAVE A DREAM I have a dream! That SFMM fans will be able to walk hand in hand with CP's!
AND no ONE cares what a coaster is and what a coaster isn't!
Up until that point, I had always loved coasters, but wouldn't have considered myself an enthusiast. I've been to three new-to-me parks since then (BGW, IOA, SFWoA), and have planned a West-Coaster for early next year (SFMM, KBF, DCA) and another East-Coaster (SFA, PKD)that should get my track record somewhere around 70.
Plus, most importantly, I joined Coasterbuzz :)
