SFNE's 2002 Coaster: + vs. -

What do you think are the pluses and minuses of the new coaster at SFNE just by looking at the blueprints.

+= Small B+M's are almost always intense.

-= Lack of landscaping due to flat land. Except I saw in the first blueprints that they are making an artificial pond near the first drop.

+B&M's are pretty cool.

-Silly Six Flags Advertising. It will probably be named something along the lines of X, Batman, of Superman.

(Not that that really matters;))

+ It's built by B&M

- It looks kind of short

+ Zero G roll

- Only 120 feet tall

I gotta agree with John Peck, even though my favorite coaster is a B&M, we've all forgotten the coasters that used to rule!  SFNE could've gotten a massive coaster from Arrow and paid the same price if not less than they're going to pay for they're extremely overpriced B&M. You're just paying for the name, like Abercrombie!

+ B&M

+ this park needed a looping coaster

+ lines will be shorter for S:Ros

+ If it's as intense as Batman it is gonna be a heck of a ride

+ can be cloned and build in other parks because of the small size

- not in Europe

He's just saying that overpriced stuff isn't always worth it... Most people think Abercrombie is "cool", just as people do with B&M... but most think they are overpriced and can get better things for the value.

Anyways, I still think it will be a great addition to SFNE, I think it will eliminate some of the lines on the other rides *cough* SRoS *cough* so thats good. I can't really think of any minuses.

The SFMM Salvi

+ small and compact design which will always (at least with companies like B&M) be intense.

+ Possibly floorless, first truly high intensity floorless

+120ft. and small design allows for possible cloning such as for B:TR (but hopefully with different names and color schemes)

-minimal theming

THE SFMM Salvi...You said that it will be the first "truly high intense" floorless, I thought that Medusa West was the most intense coaster I have ever ridden!

- The lift hill is only 120 feet

- Long lines

- The name of the coaster will probably be something to do with Batman

First off, it's a B&M and I don't think any B&Ms have any minuses.  The lines will be shorter for S: RoS, it adds another great coaster, zero-g roll, dive loop, interlocking corkscrews, and another loop, you couldn't ask for anything better (except for a cobra roll).  The height and length are short but it will won't matter.  This will be a great ride.

The only thing we know for sure is that it is a B&M, and that is obviously a plus.  Most people think it will be a floorless, which is fine -> really any coaster addition to this park is welcomed.  I personally hope that it is longer than the diagrams suggest.

And can somebody explain to me the space restrictions at SFNE?  I find it hard to believe/accept that they couldn't expand the boundries with some land aquisition...

SFNE has room to expand, why would Six Flags buy the park if expansion wasn't a possibility. The B&M floorless is really going to bring SFNE to new success attendance-wise and into the elite class of amusement parks.

I wouldnt really compare Abercrombie with B&M. People wear Abercrombie because everyone and they're mom wears it, but you don't see B&M's at all parks. Another thing, B&M's cost alot for a reason, they deliver for many years to come, I guess we'll have to wait and see how much longer everyone wears Abercrombie before moving on to a new brand.

Abercrombie stinks, but B&Ms don't so they're not related.;)

People may pay extra for Ambercrombie clothes because of the name, but parks don't pay extra for B&M's for the same reason. They buy B&M's because they always draw a crowd nomatter their size, shape, or color. And they will last. Every B&M ever built is still in operation today (and still popular), and no B&M has ever been moved or reconstructed. The GP has never even heard of B&M. The designer makes no difference to them. I have a friend who can't get it through his head the Nitro and the Boomerang clones were designed by different companies.

Arrow? You've got to be kidding! Now I am not trying to offend or harrass anyone's opinion here, but do they have anything on B&M? X is practically a mess with all it's poor engineering calculations on the structure stress and most of their looping coasters are headache machines. You get what you pay for, IMO. B&M's are generally smooth, flawless, and have been gotten rave reviews ever since they opened to the public. Since when have you heard a rave rewiew about an Arrow corkscrew or mega looper? (This is jsut my opinion, I am certainly not trying to attack anyone's opinion what so ever)
