I think should take the arcade out and replace it with a Sally Corp Dark ride and or put a walk thru attaction on the 2nd floor.
Another thought is to put in a food court and a dark ride.
Your thoughts.....

Why would you replace the mother of all arcades (one that has consumed hundreds of my quarters) with something that costs money to build and operate?

No, I dont think they should replace it. I  visit that arcade just to play the old-school games.

Food court would probably be more profitable than an arcade and CP could always keep the some of the games in there.
Besides, it would be cool to have a dark ride at CP again.

I think they should leave it, many people enjoy spending a couple of hours in there. Besides, DT fills the need for a dark ride.

An indoor coaster is not the same as a dark ride.
Phantom Theater at KI rocks kids love them, couples like to make out in them, and it's a great way to beat the heat.

Would it be? I can see six (at least) food stands standing in front of the arcade, three standing at the back of the building.

My thoughts for the Coliseum arcade? Yank out some of those huge new games that you can play at any local mini-mart and make room for some GOOD games back in the back. Bring back a Tempest machine. How about a couple of pinball machines that are a little more modern, but not quite Pinball 2000...say, perhaps, a Cyclone and a Comet. An arcade full of classic games is a great idea, but I don't like seeing good games replaced by mediocre ones.

It would give more reasons to visit the coliseum and more foot traffic into the building. Besides it would give you more to do when it rains.

Remember there is a second floor in the building that is not being used.

Well, it's a good arcade. But why not take out the arcade in the old Pirate Ride and bring back the pirate ride?

Cyclone and Comet?  Two of the best pinball machine of all time.  Man, you have good taste!  I could have bought the Cyclone game at Kent State with the number of quarters I put in it.  I would rack up so many free games that when I went to class and returned, the free games were still there!!!
Awesome.

I agree with RideMan, especially on the Tempest machine -- one of the best games ever made.

The Arcade should be left as-is, or officially turned into an "arcade museum" of sorts.  I certainly wouldn't want to see them kill it completely, even for a good dark ride.

The Coliseum Arcade should be kept as is on the lower level. I always see the place pretty packed at times but they need to address the back portion of the arcade, which doesn't see too much traffic (I guess since that's where the "vintage" games are. Got to love those old pinball machines).

The second floor would make a either a nice conference center or a nice restaurant (like PKI's old International Restaurant above the main gate). A formal atmosphere without having to dress formal.

The upper floor is the ballroom. When I worked there they held employee dances there a couple times a week. I know they have held some industry functions there in the past.

I wish they would keep it in working order.  Most of the time the classic pinballs are broke.  I used to love it when they had a whole wall of the newest pinballs out back in the early 90's.

If we are on the subject about bringing back old games why not bring back.... Fascination!!

You won't see the second floor of the arcade go any where...Cedar Point has been putting a lot of money into the Ballroom... Last Friday they hosted a charity dance, "One Last Dance". Also the IAAPA conference was going to be held at Cedar Point and there was going to be a reception in the Ballroom.

The ballroom on the second floor is more than likely one of the last of it's era in the country. I was just there last Friday for the big band tribute to Glenn Miller / Red Cross Benefit, and it was beautiful! Vintage. I'm sure it has too much historical significance to ruin it. If you go to the Town Hall Museum and read the listings of the people who performed there, it's incredible.
