Busch Gardens Willamsburg Plans

Does anyone know the plans of BGW for 2002?  I've heard that BGT is getting a "speed" coaster and was wondering if BGW might be getting a woodie since the opposite happened a few years ago.

As much as I would love to see BGW get a wood coaster, the question is where would they put it? Having just visited yesterday, I don't see much potential exapansion space for anything big. And there's still that little problem of the big blue sit-down coaster whose name isn't spoken at the park.

Know something???? I think they can put a great woodie in the place where Alpengeist is...so much tress and the interaction between the two rides would make them quite impressive...would be cool...

BGW has a ton of land to expand, I have no idea where the idea of "where would they put it comes from." They have tons of rooms in the direction near Drachen Fire, more beside Festa Italia. When you ride AC just look in that direction and you will see all the room. I however think that it would be best to squeeze a woodie into the wooded area next Le Mans raceway and Ireland. Putting it in there removing as few trees as possible would be great. Hopefully, it could be themed to Ireland (maybe Banshee). I don't think that they are as worried about the PR concerns, if you've ridden Corkscrew Hill you know that there are banshees in the simulation.

It would be very nice to see the park get a woodie, although I have also been hearing people talk of a B&M floorless going to the park, too.  While I would much rather a woodie (something along the lines of Lightning Racer seems like an ideal coaster for the park), I'd be happy with either or.

i've been hearing about the b&m floorless too. a woodie would be cool though, if they built one they could put it in the woods. that would be awesome (especially at night! :)) drachen fire is such a mystery... it's like the ride ops don't even know what it is, it's like you ask them about it and they say, "what?" also, is alpengeist located in aquataine? i think it is. :-/

Yes, Alpengeist is located in/near Aquitaine. A woodie would really make BGW's coaster list perfect. Something as good as Lightning Racer would be awesome.

with the kind of land BGW has(very very wooded) i think a GCI coaster that twist and turns through the woods would be awsome.

Actually Alpengeist is located in between New France (French Canadian theme) and Rhineland (German theming)

regarding the wooden coaster idea, that will never happen.  there is a local ordinance in Williamburg that prevents a woodie being built, because the park is very close to an extremely upperclass housing development.  im not totally sure of the whole story, but i do know that they cant build a woodie, and its because of noise....i think thats stupid, and i agree with everyone that a CCI would be awesome there, but unless some local laws change, its not happening.  id personally like to see Drachen Fire reopen with some adjustments, and a B&M floorless would be cool....so far it seems that Anheuser THeme Parks have quite an exclusive relationship with B&M.  only time will tell...well see, and im sure we will be pleasently suprised, whatever their decision is :)

Kingsmill is the upscale development you are speaking of, and trust me there is enough seperation between the park and the development where the sound would not be a problem, in fact the brewery sits between them. I could not imagine any ordinance that would defeat a 100 ft. coaster but allows a 200 ft. coaster. Also, I have the feeling that if Busch really wanted it they could get it pushed through.

I'll say it again, I don't see any potential room in the main park for a big ride on the scale of Gwazi, unless Drachen Fire goes. On the outside of the park you've got an animal reserve. On the other side is where the Clydesdales graze. I cannot imagine them wedging in a wood coaster where Alpengeist stands. That ride was already wedged in over top of the log flume.

I don't know too much about the 2002 season But I know Drachen Fire will be in opperation this october durining Howl-O-Scream. I was pepiced to be a ride op for it this October if i am not needed at Apollo's Chariot.

DF's opening is not by all means final but i have a strong feeling espically because it was on the Howl-O-Screm web site

I"m going to make a lot of enemies saying this, but I don't expect Drachen Fire to be standing in BGW once the park opens for 2002.  If the park is limited on space, I am sure that something will replace that ride.

I will repeat again, contrary to what Intamin Fan believes, there is an abundance of room for BGW to expand on. Much of it is in the direction of Drachen Fire and would not require the removal of DF. They have always planned for a park expansion in that direction. Refer to my earlier post in this topic, but as someone who lived in Williamsburg until very recently and frequented the park about 2 times a week trust me that there is plenty of room at this park. The animal refuges are very small and neither are anywhere near these areas of possible expansion. The clydesdale grazing area is seperated from the area of expansion by the train tracks and parts of Festa Italia. Also Busch has the option of doing what a lot of other parks have done and expanding in the direction of the England parking lot which receives less use since the new entry plaza was created.

It's been said that a lift noise reduction system had been put on DF because of complaints from the
neighborhood. I don't know if that's true or not, as is everything else about that ride:(. They need to
say something about it, it's very unprofessional of them.

I walk around BGW, and I always think to myself how awesome the park would be with a mine train
coaster. Anyways, that's dreaming. Maybe with their new traffic pattern and from the construction
of last year, if that's what it was called, may have gave them a little room. They could almost put
something in a parking lot, you know.
