Worlds of Fun only has three (well, four with the new Boomerang) coasters, but they're all good ones. The Mamba is great and I suspect (though I can't say for sure) that it's the best of the trilogy (Wild Thing, Steel Force). Timber Wolf is a fantastic wooden coaster. That and Viper at SFGrAm are my two favorite non-Beast related woodies. The Orient Express is a great Arrow looper, similar to Loch Ness Monster but with two more inversions, slightly longer and slightly faster. The Boomerang is well, a Boomerang which they built this year. I would have much preferred an Invertigo at the very least.
WOF coasters rarely show up in people's favorite lists on forums, probably due to low traffic. Mamba and Timber Wolf both ranked high in the recent Golden Tickets awards, however.
I was going to mention the WOF coasters in the Underrated thread, but I figured someone would throw in another "but Millennium Force rules" response so I didn't bother.
If you are going mid-week, the lines are short. Mamba usually runs very efficiently, and you only have to wait a few minutes. During the week it seems they only run one train on the Orient and Timber Wolf, but still you shouldn't have to wait more than twenty or thirty minutes, tops.
I don't usually bother with the flat rides, but I recommend the Omegatron, Zulu, and Bamboozler if you want a break from the coasters. Secure all loose articles before riding the Omegatron, however.
I take coaster trips each year to SFSL, SFGrAm, and the Ohio parks, but I'm glad I live near WOF, otherwise I might have passed it over and I would be missing out on three great coasters.

Thank you!!! I'm actually excited now. I like to seek out coasters and places that no one usually talks about so this sounds like the perfect place for me. I love Millennium Force, but like you I'm tired of hearing about it. It's nice to hear about less publisized coasters for a change. ;)

This is my home park, and its truely great. The coasters are all world-class (except for the Giant Cheese Puff . . my nickname for Boomerang). I've never gotten to ride Steel Force or Wild Thing, but from everyone that I've talked to, Mamba is the best of them all. The only reason Steel Force is ranked higher is because its in a high-traffic area, compared to Mamba. Mamba is still great though. It provides tons of airtime, especially on the second hill. It has a great headchopper effect and, once again, tons of airtime on the bunny hops.
Timber Wolf is also a great ride. It was #1 woodie in the world in '91. It also has tons of air time and a great helix.

WOF is a great park but CF should give it more attention. They have a great market to draw from in the KC area and Omaha up North.

I agree, WoF is an awful lot of fun. Timber Wolf IS one of the most overlooked woodies around - it's definite top ten material. And while I don't think Mamba is quite as good as Steel Force, that's not an insult - SF is one of the best steel coasters in the world, and Mamba is not far behind. Its second hill provides one of my favorite moments on any coaster I've been on. It really feels like the whole train is just gonna keep going up and up and up ...

WORLDS OF FUN is an overated Cedar Fair Park in the shadows of Cedar Point. Cedar Fair does not invest much into WOF. An example of that would be the Boomerang this year. They put in the Boomerang because it was flat out cheap to build. Personally, they should have kept the Zambezi Zinger-- because it was a well themed ride and exciting. Hopefully, Cedar Fair will wise up and put some more money into the park because according to a ride operator-- attendance is extremely low!
As for the coasters, the Mamba and the Timberwolf are top notch for WOF. Mamba is very cool in the back seat. Make sure u ride on the right side of the car, because after the 2 hills a surprise awaits and it feels as if u will crash into the coaster if your hands are up.
Timberwolf is an awesome woody. It may not be as big as the newest ones but it has an extreme bite.
Orient Express is alright if u like neck aches.
I went out there on like a Thursday- and there were no lines.Rode Detonator 5 times, Mamba 8 times, Orient 2 times, Boomerang 3 times, and Timber Wolf 7 times.
Other rides I would recommend are Detonator(the pre runner of the Power Tower)

and if it is hot-- cool off in Cyclone Sam's air conditioned ride(i.e. Casino)

We were at WOF last week. I don't think we waited more than 10-15 minutes on line. We did notice that WOF does not feel like a Cedar Fair park. The way the park was opened a little bit at time, the employee attitudes just to name a couple. Yes the Boomarang was a waste. It was setting up half the time we were there.

Not only wondering what to do with this property, but what to do with the Boomerang itself -- no graphic logo, no merchandising -- is it on its way to Dorney?
However, the Mamba is now on my list of top 10 coasters -- long, awesome, smooth, and really a great ride. Timber Wolf is also great (not to beat a dead horse, but it's more the way I remember the Beast) and probably will edge its way onto my list, too, once I sit down and think about it.

Merri, I don't know what you are talking about when you say that Boomerang doesn't have any graphic logo or merchandise. The sign in front of the entrance isn't the logo. It actually has a neat looking logo. As for merchandise, there is. Though it may not be as much as the merchandise for Mamba and Timber Wolf, there is some here and there.

Matt, you answered your own question with "not as much as the Mamba," which is NOT its new ride, but which is at saturation levels all over the park. Although the sports quarts talk about the fearsome foursome, note that the t-shirts are still promoting the terrible trio (threesome? I forget now). And the only logo I saw was (again) on the sport quart, the coaster train and track and name -- not at all up to the standards of the other three pictograph logos: dragon, wolf, and snake.
I still think (and I'll give it a long rest after this) someone missed the ball on the logo and merchandising (if this is a permanent addition) OR its not meant to be permanent and they didn't want to make it seem that way. (Heck, if it were to be permanent, why not move the kangaroo over there and promote a whole new Aussie "World of Fun" area? Lots more bang for the buck, IMHO.)

I have a simple question for those of you in the know. I went to WoF yesterday and while I was riding the Detonator I saw that one of the trains on the Mamba had stopped in the middle of the ride. The second train on the Mamba was still running and coming up behind the first train fast.
I could see that the people on the first train were looking behind them to see if the train was going to stop. At that point my ride dropped down to where I couldn't see what happened. I am guessing that they didn't crash since I didn't hear anything about it later, but it got me wondering. Are there any automatic safety controls that stop the second train if the first is stuck or derailed? I called the safety department at WoF and the girl told me that it is up to the operator to watch the track and manually stop the second train if that happens. I can't believe that! Does anyone know for sure?
I also wanted to say that I really liked the Boomerang even though it sounds like a lot of people on this site didn't care for it. It was my favorite although the rest of my family voted the Mamba as #1.
