Some of you spoilt brats are all at it again, and this time, I really have to say something- You know who you are.
To quote from recent forums....
When's another one being built?
This ones too short,
Turnaround looks weak,
When 's CP getting one,
I've got to travel to get to it,
Lets see what other designs can be done with 4D, I hope that SF.....gets one.
Given the opportunity I would barr you from your favourite parks,, just to see how you respond- you don't deserve them.

Yes, Colin it sure gets "up my nose" or as I might say "under my skin." But I realized a long time ago that most of those types of responses are from the younger set (really younger!) that simply don't have a lot of the other "life stuff"
to be concerned with. I see you are a bit older and thus more experienced in life and can put things into a more proper perspective.
BTW, compared to a lot of buzzers, I am ancient. But that matters none when riding coasters, just when discussing them.

Okay, hoping that your park gets one isn't a bad thing. Obviously they are impressed by the ride so much to wasn't CP or their park to get one. The Other comments are crap. People said Millennium Force's layout was too short and now its the number 1 coaster (by Amusement Today)

And Willthethrill ride just proved everyone’s point about the younger enthusiasts (yes, 19 is young, considering people are living into to the 80's and 90's).
How can you say the ride is too short without riding it? Maybe the ride is so disorienting that it won't feel 'short'.

Will, wait till you've ridden it, bear in mind its a prototype, and then compare it with Oblivion(which is excellent)- X is a LOT longer, and is going to be a lot more intense, I think that ride time will be plenty for most people.

I think part of it is that many of our newer members are only recently paying closer attention to the parks and what they're building. If you base your outlook of the future on the last 2 years, you are going to be royally disappointed. Look back just 5-10 years ago. Very few parks got coasters every other year, and a park getting a new coaster 2 years in a row was unheard of. I just wonder what is going to happen if SFMM or CP doesn't add anything next year, how many complaints will there be? If the 310 feet of goodness in MF or 3 coasters in 2 years aren't enough to tide you over for more than one season, then you're going to be disappointed more than you're going to be excited.
I also take issue with these 'too short' complaints (not just on X, but in general). Who said a coaster has to be long to be great? I once heard someone say that SFoG wasn't worth going to because they don't have any coasters over 2 minutes long. That's crazy. They were one of the only two SF parks that had 2 coasters on the Golden Ticket Awards (SFNE was the other). It goes to show that length isn't as important as quality, at least to most people.
BTW, I am 21, so maybe I can prove that not all of the younger members are spoiled rotten. ;)

Alright, this is one of the most hypocritical posts I've seen in a long time. While I agree that there are some teens who can be a little out of line, there are at least the same amount (if not more) of "mature" adults who act worse than these young kids. Making these types of generalizations can really make you look like you don't know what you're talking about.

But back to the topic, I'm only 15 & 6 months old. I'll be 15 & 10 months old when I go on my Las Vegas and Six Flags Magic Mountain trip. I live in Colorado so it wouldn't be that bad of a flight into Las Vegas, and then after riding some coasters in Las Vegas, I'll be driving to Los Angles and out to SFMM. Go ahead and call me a "spoiled brat" cause I wouldn't care when I'm riding X.

There was a time way way way back in the 1970's when rollercoasters were an endangered species. Thanks in small part to engineers, enthusiasts, Disney, cable TV, to name a few, we are in a golden era rivaled only by a couple decades in the 20's and 30's.
Just try to be happy! No point growing up upset over things like parks not spending enough millions to keep you happy. Sheesh!

Aren't all prototype rides short when they make their debut?
- Batman was one of the first inverted coasters, and it's relatively short.
- When they wanted to make Magnum (the first hyper), they didn't jump all the way up to 250+ feet
- Hypersonic XLC is short.
- Volcano, the first LIM-based inverted coaster, is short.
- Stealth and Batwing are both short.
- Shuttle loops are short.
- Oblivion is short.
- That pipeline coaster (in Texas I believe), is short.
- Those Arrow shuttle loop coasters are short
- King Cobra (PKI) is very short
Comprende? See a pattern here? This represents the typical development process for any project (especially those that cost millions of dollars). First, you build a small-scale version of a ride to see how the public reacts, and to see how it handles in real life. Then, you gradually expand on it and make it into an extreme ride.
A perfect example here is the pipeline coaster and the Arrow shuttle loop. Both of these were prototype rides, and built to a small-scale in their first run. It's a good thing that the parks only built small-scale versions of these rides instead of extreme versions because it would have been a HUGE waste of money (as evidenced by their success, or lack thereof, today). *** This post was edited by DarkHelmet on 8/15/2001. ***
