Are all SF parks this shabby? (kinda long)

Admittedly, I did not take my tape measurer with me, but the paths @ IOA (especially through Seuss) and Epcot (especially around the World Showcase) didnt strike me as being significantly wider than the midway @ SFGAm. GAm has always been a circle (just like Disneyland).

Personally, I do not like all the side paths. They only serve to confuse people. There will still be crowds near the major attractions, no matter how they get over there ;)

Kingbob: I sure hope you don't plan on returning to any Sf parks after your horrible experience.The only reason i have even said a word is, I just wish all the people who had a bad experience or think SF parks are trashy would stop going so the rest of us have less people in line in front of us.You want to start an argument,look somewhere else because, I don't have time for you.The End....

Rickyswmn, I agree and I'm not going there looking for crap to complain about. I'm actually going by the observations of friends and family I have taken to the park. I don't notice it too much myself because I go there enough. However, my wife and I didn't get season passes last year because she refused to go to the bathroom at the park and this year I only got one for me. Yes, we have used public restrooms before and this is only an example but it still shouldn't be. I'm glad to hear that at least sometimes things are better than other times since you seem to have better luck. Also, along the lake is our favorite part of the park as well:)

Rickyswnm, I need to go to parks with you! Although I do understand the complaints, I've seen SFMM cleaner than Disneyland, I've also seen it when it is pretty dirty. But like you, I don't go to parks to run inspections, I go to ride the coasters and have a good time with my family. ;)

You know, there are some things tha can be overlooked, but I also realize that some things cannot. I mean, if you looked hard enough, you could find litter @ Holiday World. Does this mean they are a terrible park? No it means that some of their guests are idiots with no home training.

Graffiti in bathrooms is somewhat inevitable, sad to say. No park can really afford to have "Men's Room Attendants" to keep a watch on that. And it would get very costly to replace a door everytime some punk carves her initials into it. That being said, parks CAN be blamed for unclean restrooms. THAT I cannot abide. I can understand how a bad bathroom can make you dont want to go back. I remember last year thinking the bathrooms @ SFKK were the WORST (till I went to big Chief's). Funny, I was @ SFKK for over 10 hours Saturday, and I dont remember going to the bathroom once. Guess it was a subconcious thing. :)

Here a SFWOA is the same problem, I used to complain about it but now I've given up. I Just go to ride coasters not for the ambiance,
there is none.

Well admist all the bad talk of SFMM one thing the park has going for it is the Oriental Gardens which are a nice way to take a break with some shade and the hillside under Revotions lift. LOTS of nice trees and shade! Thats the nest part of the park to just walk throught. Only if we could get some more shade bach by Riddler's Revenge.

A couple years ago, SFGAdv had an employee stationed in each of the bathrooms. That was befor they put in the 25 new rides in 99

I agree that some of the bathrooms at SFGA could have used a little work. As for the grafitti, I saw the worst grafitti in the bathrooms at Knoebels a couple of weeks ago. And this is at a park that was voted most family friendly.

We seem to be having a similar problem at SFOG. The paint is peeling on almost all of the buildings. There is trash overflowing in the cans, gum everywhere, and rude people. Instead of seeing SFOG get a DC Comics area added to the park within the next 2 years, I would really like to see the whole park revamped. I mean paint everything, pressure wash every floor, wall, and railing. Peeling gum off of every tree, wall, and floor. Updating signs, retracking the cyclone(GASM just did this year), and become more strict on the people who litter, smoke in line, cut in line, and are down right rude. I would love to see this happen. I could care less about seeing a new ride in the next 2-3 years, I would rather see the park cleaned up. That's all.

This year I've been to SFGAdv, SFA and SFNE. My take is that those parks are decently kept. Do they look as good as BGW? No, they don't. But they are not pits either. Maybe SFGAdv will improve and maybe it won't but a few overflowing garbage cans won't stop me from having a great adventure.

Hmm...quite honestly, I've never really noticed a big trash problem at SFStL. Sure, it's not going to be spotless, but what park is?(excluding HW, it's in a league of it's own;)) Now, you can't really expect any SF parks to be as clean as parks such as Hersheypark, Knoebel's, or as I said, Holiday World, because after all, they aren't corporate parks. Plus, in most cases, corporate parks are much larger than family-owned, resulting in more guests, which means more trash. And on the subject of buildings looking run-down, it's sad to say, but large parks such as SFGAdv are going to have that problem. It's kind of difficult to take PERFECT care of every building in the park, so give them some credit, because from the pics I've seen, the park doesn't look all the bad when compared to places like SFAW or SFEG...just be thankful the park isn't THAT bad.:)

I alway have felt that SFGAm is kept clean, compared to other parks I've been to. Obviously, Disney is far ahead of almost all other parks, and everybody says Cedar Point is very clean, and it is, but the two Six Flags parks I've been to this year have been very close to CP's level of upkeep. When I went to Magic Mountain last month, I expected a less-than-clean park, but I was very impressed.

I knew someone would bring up WoA. I don't see why people find this park so horrible. I go there all the time and I never have any problems, I always have a good time.

Maybe it's because I am the type going there to have fun, not pick the park apart. It is very biased here anyways since the "cool" thing to do is bash WoA. That's ok though because it seems most enthusiasts are dorky.

I am going to WoA tomorrow, for the 9th. time and I am sure I will have a wonderful visit as usual. You guys keep the lines down for me.;)

What about the Universal Parks? They are corporate parks and they are the best in the biz. At IOA, they repaint their buildings and touch up the rides EVERY night. That's impressive. All the colors in Seusses Landing you see when you visit, that's all fresh paint from the night before. So a corporate park can be clean, they just have to care enough.

Just like on RCT, trash lowers the park rating, and the guests happiness.

SFGAdv looked clean enough to me when I went, although Rolling Thunder was a disgrace. But I found SFA and SFWOA to be dirt holes - trash was all over, especially in the lines. If they can't afford the staff, then why not put in more trashcans.

I don't go around looking for trash or problems, I just notice these things when my foot squelches in the remains of someone's funnel cake, and I have to block my nose when I pass uncleaned puke. And I don't want to have to say what was on the floor in the restrooms at Kennywood!

kingbob, I love SFNE and yet I never go in the waterpark. that is the bad side of the park. oh and double trouble is NOT a good ride its painful and slooooooow you did not miss anything, they probably shut it down because they know nobody likes it. SFNE is a good park and I get dissapointed when people diss it. the waterpark at SFGADV is just as bad, only you have to pay seperatly to get in that one. *** This post was edited by sfne guy on 8/8/2001. ***

Don't get me wrong I think SFWoA is dirty but I also have a great time. If Six Flags could keep SFWoA a little cleaner I would go here insead of CP.

Wow... SFGAdv was my favorite Six Flags park of the 6 I have been to this year. It helped that the crowd was thin on a Sunday with threatening weather (which cooperated). I guess I spent too much time ON the rides to notice anything wrong around them. Maybe next time I can hit SFWoA on a day like that.
