lap bars

i never seen a roller coaster that goes upside down with lap bars, and thats it. wouldnt u fall out? may i please get some pics of upside down rollercoasters with just lap bars. thanx

There are a lot of looping coasters with just lapbars, actually. Dorney's Laser, Hersheypark's Sooperdooperlooper, the Flights of Fear and Son Of Beast all immediately come to mind.

Well I think The Mindbender at SFoG has just lapbars.

There are dozens of coasters that perform inversions with just lap bars. Some forwards, some backwards, single inversions, multiple inversion of all kinds.....and so on.

www.rcdb.com is the website. The 2nd time it was posted it didn't work because of the comma after the link. I think all looping Schwarzkopf's originally had only lap bars, but a few have been refit to have harnesses also. I'm almost 100% sure that all Schwarzkopf shuttle loops do not have a harness, I know that SFoG's Viper, and PGA's Greezed Lightin' (Tidal Wave) only have lap bars.

Listen, if you can't get out of a seat with a lapbar, then it's no different if you go upside down. Anyways, on most coasters you would still stay in without any restraint because of the centrifugal forces.

Nitro: The Most Explosive Coaster on the Planet explodes at Six Flags Great Adventure in 2001.

Greezed Lightnin' at SFAW has run since 1978 with just lapbars, and Viper has run at SFAW since 1989 with just lapbars, and from 1981 - 1988 at SFStL with just lapbars.

Silver Bullet at Frontier City has also run since 1979 with just lapbars.

All Schwarzkopf coasters were built with lapbars. Some have been retrofitted because the park that owns them is stupid ;).

I have heard that you don't even need the lapbar while going through the loop because the forces push you against the seat.

The Shockwave at Six Flags Over Texas has two loops one right after the other and it only has lap bars. When I go around the loops I stay put. I do get a bunch of airtime on the hills though!!I love that!! Here is the pic of The Shockwave on The SFOT sight, no pics of the loops though, but it does have it's specs.

Find a Rock-O-Plane and take a ride. If you can, make sure the belt is tight because it is more comfortable to have your weight against 3" of seat belt than against 1" of steel lap bar. The Rock-O-Plane tub is fully enclosed, but unless you are tall, you shouldn't bump your head on the ceiling. Now, when the ride starts, pull back on the control handle and hold it there. When you get to the top, you should be fully inverted, held safely in place by only a lap restraint. :)
