lap bars

you might need the restraint more if you got stuck in the loop... but lapbars would do just fine
doesn't the Zipper ride have just lapbars? i haven't been on one in a while *** This post was edited by Wackokid on 7/30/2001. ***
Knotts Berry Farm's Montezooma's Revenge has only a lapbar and a seatbelt. As with most Shwarzkopf designed rides I think that it origonally only had the lapbars!

I'm not making an argument against lap bars. (I know I'd lose that one. ;)) I'm just rebutting Kennywood Insider's point about not needing lap bars, period.

Besides, aren't restraints -- any restraints -- more for the purpose of keeping riders from getting out than falling out?

What do you mean by you don't need any restraints???
I would like to see a test dummie on S:ROS at SFDL without a lapbar or restraint. With all of that airtime you would fall right out.
He means like I did that on MANY coasters you woud stay in the seat without a restraint when going through a loop. If it is going fast enough, the centrifugal force will keep you in the seat. Has anyone seen Tom Morrow 3.0 on disney channel? They talk about that really it's centrifugal forces that keep you from falling out.

Airtime hills and turns is different though.

If you wanna dis me, then go knit a seater... or somethin' like that...
some lap bars are comfortable
I just rode flight of fear for the 1st time last week. Its Not just lap bars there is an ankle restraint as well. But VERY Comfortable ! I hope to see these in all looping coasters , wish PKI would have put them on vortex too
