OTSR's or lap bars?

I would just like to know which type of restraint you prefer. I know most every multi-looper has them, except FoF. But, what do you prefer, the free feeling of the upper body, or feeling secure?

i prefer the feeling of the free upper body...just adds some more suspense to the ride.

I like them both for different reasons.

Lap bars, hands down.

in some coasters lap bars are better and then in some the OTRS are better, like FoF is better with lap bars. But if u put lap bard on somthing like Kumba or Vortex i think it would be worse

i like lap bars cuase some over head harnesses hurt if ur head hits them!! Lap bars can prevent that from happening and i think lap bars are better cause it feels like ur gonna fall out and adds to the suspense!!

Now that Flight of Fear has been converted, Kumba returns to its top position on my List of Coasters That Really, Really, Really Ought to have Lap Bars Instead Of Shoulder Bars. At IAAPA last year I stopped by the B&M booth where they had pilot cars on display for Nitro and for Wildfire. What I told the company rep who was working the booth at that time was that they should put "that train" (referring to the Nitro train) on "that coaster" (referring to the Wildfire train). He laughed; I don't think he realized I was absolutely serious.

Done properly, lap bars are more effective and more secure than shoulder bars any day of the week. Not to mention that they can accommodate a larger range of people sizes and shapes, and can make for faster platform operations.

Lap bars are the hands-up favorite here. But you knew that already.

I'm gonna go with the majority here, lap bars all the way. I just love the free feeling of the upper and sometimes lower body, and I also agree with the faster loading time that was posted by rideman.

I actually like OSTRs for one reason: Its easier to fit into. Im a tall guy, and its easier to fit into OSTRs than a lapbar.

I don't have a problem with B&M otsr's. They're comfortable, and their rides aren't rough anyways. Now on the other hand, B&M hypers are my choice of seating. If i could replace the sofa with a B&M speed train, believe you me, i would. That is the most comfortable seating, and the lap bars are also comfortable. I do think arrow should either pad they're otsr's more, or retro fit the cars, because on the rougher rides like mega loopers, it is painful, the rides themselves a re fun, but they are rough, and i wouldnt mind seeing lap bars on those rides.

I think that the lap bars on B&M speed trains, aside from being the most comfortable, they are very secure. I definitally think that a B&M speed restraint could be secure enough to hold someone in on a mega-looper, even through a zero-g roll. I mean those restraints cover all of your thighs.

I'll have to go with lap bars! OTSR's can be painful but lap bars give you more range of movement and are more comfortable. Also, they still keep you securely in the train.

I wish EVERY sit down coaster had lap bars.

I think all coasters that have lap bars should be repalced for lap bars.

I don't know. I could not imagine Viper at SFMM or Kumba at BGT with lap bars. On giant multiloopers, I would prefer OTSR's. Otherwise, I prefer lap bars.
