This may be a bit of a stretch, but something just hit me today that may shed light on what's in store for CP in 2002. I remember taking a ride on the Paddlewheel Excursions in late summer of 1997, and after the usual array of corny jokes, just as the boat was approaching the dock, the ride captain told us he would shed some light on what CP would be getting for the 1998 season.
He gave us three possiblities. First, he said that CP may rebuild the old CP Cyclone for the 98 season (after he explained what the CP Cyclone was). Next, he suggested a 300 foot roller coaster. Finally, he told us to picture the Demon Drop and then add about a hundred feet to the top of it and have it drop another fifty feet underground. Well at that time, I ruled out the 300 foot coaster and the modified Demon Drop just because they sounded so far-fetched. At that time, I was expecting CP to announce that they would rebuild the CP Cyclone for the 1998 season.
I was wrong. Turns out, the Demon Drop idea showed up for 98 in the form of the Power Tower. It was a little different than he described it, but i wouldn't expect a ride op to tell completely what is happening. The 300 foot roller coaster just happened to show up for the 2000 season, which I thought would never happen when I heard this on that boat ride. Now all that's left is the CP Cyclone. Could CP be rebuilding this for the 2002 year?
I know this is nothing more than a suped-up Lemon Chill Guy story (which is completely unconnected to the CP for 2002 issue), but it really did happen and since two of the three things he said might happen were fulfilled, who knows about the third? I have no clue about who this guy was or how he knew so much (could be he was just talking out his arse and happened to be right) but I just remembered it and decided to put it out here as food for thought.
