Next big thing on the horizon for IoA
I agree that a Hyper (or Giga) would not fit into IoA. I think it would stick way too far above everything else in the park and therefore intrude on the theming and general theme appeal. I love hypers, I just don't feel IoA needs one at all. Leave that to SeaWorld.
Now, regarding the Seizmic coaster, I would love to see one of those. However, just like a hyper, not at Islands. They already have a Pteranodon/Pteradactyl themed ride in Pteranodon Flyers, why would you want to have two in the same park, let alone the same themed area? As well, I think Seizmic is best to be used as a dueler/racer, and they already have Dragons next Island down, as well. Therefore, I think that installation would be futile, too.
In my opinion, I feel what IoA really could use is a Dive Machine or Wooden coaster. They could theme a Dive Machine really well. I thought a wooden coaster would be *perfect* for the open area between Jurassic Park and Lost Continent, before they built Unicorn, but now if they put a wooden coaster in, it would clutter that area too much with coasters, and I don't think that would be good for IoA.
So in the end, I say they should go for a Dive Machine and drop (get it?) that sucker in between JP and Toon Lagoon. Possibly wrap it around the back-end of the River Adventure's sore thumb of a building.
Just don't get your hopes up for a hyper or jeep adventure.
Also...Katanga is 165ft, not 200ft...

A while back there were rumors of a B&M Hyper/Giga. Then again they're just rumors. In JP would make for nice landscaping & theming. Name to be "Jurassic Park ///." Just kidding.
What about the rumored JP ride/coaster that ends with a 90º? drop?

The red lights on Hulk's Cobra Roll are for theming. Don't ask me what they add to the theming, but back in December of 1998, I spoke with the Sr. Electrical Engineer of the park and that's what he told me. I personally don't see how it's theming, however, Hulk's Cobra Roll is 105ft...Nowhere near 200ft, obviously.

Well Jeff, I think it has to do with an obscure formula that states that the growth and size of a city has to be in direct co-relation to the ability of their professional sports teams (defunct XFL Orlando Rage team not included)

The Rage are defunct now? I guess I need to keep up with my hometown team news a little more. :) Hopefully, with the loss of the Solar Bears, and now the Rage, that isn't a sign for the amusement industry in Orlando. :)

Uh...The whole XFL is defunct now! LOL, it split after one season. Just wanted to say that.
Ok, I know one of the higher level managers at the park and I asked him what the deal was with the 200 ft limit in Orlando. He said there wasn't one, but didn't mention anything about the height of Dr. Doom.
I did ask about the chances of a larger coaster going in, and he made the point that it would simply look out of place... IOA has invested too much into themeing and look to change the entire landscape with a giga or woody for instance.
He was tight lipped about what they were going to do, but said they were looking at three seperate options right now, but didn't provide any more info than that... just my 2c.

As far as IoA saying that a giga would disrupt the theming... gimme a break!
Trust me, the people could find a way to theme a dip spit stain on the concrete! And as much as I hate to admit it seeing as how I love the coaster, but the Hulk already stands out quite a bit, so what's the problem?
Coaster fans won't mind, and non-coaster fans will marvel. IoA has a feel of cutting edge to it already. Add to it! If height restrictions hamper heighth, then work around it. Most everyone who has ridden Hulk loves it. So have another launched coaster! If they can spend $200 million on Adventures of Spiderman (I say the designer still got ripped off), they can foot the bill for a couple of "well themed" killer coasters
