Next big thing on the horizon for IoA

Here's another thread from the other board, seems to be a hot topic these days.

http://64.225.125.24/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=63796

If it doesn't come up, then here's the quote from Earl after someone asks about the 300 foot sky coaster in Kissimmee and how it relates to IOA.

"Yes, it is, but it's also in Osceola County. The 200 ft limit is not a all over the City, or a Orange County issue. It only relates to Universal's property as it is next to a residential area. As CoasterFev said, there's always an exemption, although there's nothing planned right now that needs it."

End of quote, darn, "nothing planned right now that needs it." That's the line right there that puts all the rumors to rest.

It's so cool when the people "in the know" come in to a message board and put the rumors to rest.

There are other threads over there with people begging for a giga, so they know that some of us are voting for a thrill ride.

Of course, that's what they made IOA to be, a thrill park. But the only way to be thrilled does not solely rest on a giga coaster. And like I've been saying over and over (and which Mark and that guy from the quote you posted, robvia, said as well) it would not fit IoA. Dragons blend with their settings. Hulk does too. They wanted Hulk to the center of attention for the park. And it achieved that. It's all-around you, but you never get the feeling like you're being invaded. And that's what they wanted.

I honestly hope IoA does not get a Hyper or Giga. I love them, but neither would fit in this park. They would fit in SeaWorld or Busch Gardens, however, and I get this feeling we'll be seeing one at one of those parks in the near future.

Well what makes gigas interesting to me isn't the heighth of the drop, it's the speeds they achieve.

They could launch a train from the station (ala Hulk), top the thing out at or about 200 ft. But if this train's already cruising at 40 or 50 mph at the crest of the hill? Well the rest is gravy!

Keep it back in the trees if you're concerned about being invaded by a coaster, for pete's sake. Part of what makes the Beast so great IS the feeling of being back in the trees away from the rest of the park.

It's possible to have a coaster that hauls without 300 plus (or however high) feet of track topping trees.
they need a new type of X-men ride b/c Storm's fury just doesn't cut it for the x-men!
I do really hope the get somting new next season. Maybe a floorless coaster.:)
The guy's comment about, "I could tell you our future plans, but then I'd have to kill you." was way before Men In Black opened...the park had barely even opened when they shot that video.

It was very impressive to listen to the interview with him...talking about developing the booster-thrust system by welding 2 boxcars together and dropping a weight out the end to simulate the beginning of the ride on Hulk. They tested it at 1/2, 1, 4, and 6 G's! That would be awesome!

It's amazing how it took 8 years from planning and development to construction to finish the creation of the park. It looks like such an awesome place...hopefully I'll be able to visit it sometime.

Homey...if a train is cruising at 40-50 mph at the top of the hill and suddenly drops at that speed, that would cause waaaaay to many negative G's. We're talking aneurysm causing G's...I don't think we'll see a train cresting the top of a hill that fast for a while...if ever.

robvia-Hey I started that thread over at DIS. I did it to get an understanding about the height limit from people on the inside. Its great getting info from people who are semi responsible for such a great place.

Will IOA add another thrill ride in Jurassic Park themed to JURASSIC PARK 3?

I just saw the movie and this is the best of the series yet!

I just heard this news. You won't believe it.

Cedar Point has a height restriction of 200ft. So that means Millennium Force is sinking into Lake Erie! Not Magnum! :) j/k

I just heard this from Miss Cleo, and then a Lemon Chill guy at PKI confirmed it. Due to seismic activity caused by the waves of Lake Erie, Magnum's footers are actually being PUSHED UP, instead of sinking. ;)

Homey G...Don't know if you have realized this or not, but...Um...IoA isn't built in a forest like PKI. :) Besides, where'd your argument for a giga go? You were all for a giga and seemed to change your opinion to a hidden launched coaster...

They got one of them already. :)

Well go back and read the first post. I merely made a recommendation of what I'd like to see (giga, woodie), but I believe the whole gist of the initial post was just that I wanted them to do SOMETHING while they have a chance to really remain on the cutting edge.

And ok, so there's not dense forestation like PKI (I yield), but there's a decent amount of forestry in the Jurassic Park section that could act as cover.

The way the place is designed, unless you're out by the lake, you can really only see the themed area that you are in. If a 300 ft coaster was built, it'd stand out and disrupt this. IoA already has a respectable number of white knuckle rides, they'd be more well rounded by building more family attractions - but hopefully something better than a Vekoma rollerskater, sheesh.
Perhaps they could purchase DrachenFire and have set it up out there on the lake.

You know, and keep it SBNO.

I think that's the best idea.

:oD

(Hope you guys enjoy the absurdity of it all)
Actually....There really isn't as much as you'd think. It's flat, dirt ground between JP and Toon, and that's set behind trees up front that make it seem like a large forest. and the forest area through the other side of JP is mostly the River Adventure. There really isn't an isolated forest area anywhere in the park, unfortunately. I also think the cutting edge can be taken advantage of *any* time. You always have the chance to getting cutting edge, it's timeless. There's always something that can be improved upon on thought up.

Personally, while I'd like to see something new there as well, I think they're doing just fine right now. They're only 2 years old. Expansion, major expansion, will come.
