How many people have ridden Lightning Racer?

Any particular reason for your hatred of Millennium Flyer trains, B&M Webmaster? I can respect your opinion, sure, but I don't really understand it...

It is a great ride. My two kids and I rode it numerous times just 3 weeks ago (always with one of us on the other track so we could "keep score"), so the show last night was especially interesting. Did you see Boodly beat Haim by two train lengths on the show? Not once in our two days there did I see either train lose by more than half a train length, and most often it was closer than that. When the lines were not long, they actually roped off the middle seats on each train, to keep the weight distribution as even as possible, I guess. Anyway, the duels were always close. Great fun!

On my personal favorite list of wood it ranks #4. (Knoebels Phoenix and HP's Comet and Wildcat are 1,2,3)
The twisting first drop gives the illusion of almost being verticle (its not) followed quickly by that #2 hill and that wild turn around. Like its neighboring wildcat (and Gwasi, the only other GCI creation I have ridden), once you start down that first drop, you don't slow down until you hit the station breaks.
Personally likin hills over turns, I wish the second half would contain a few larger drops, but then that would take away from the speed (as you crest the hill).
Amazing thing about it, like someone said, the trains are always so close at the finish.

I wish more parks would look into GCI coasters- especially racing, dueling or racing/dueling. I think one would look mighty fine at sfdl!!!
I haven't riden this yet- unfortunately (alough i was still a great trip) i went to hp the year before that monster was built- but i did get to see the footers being poured for it! I think if i rode this ride it would be my no. 1.

B&M Webmaster's opinion is not very unusual. i know that many people, especially larger people, hate the trains a lot.

It's a really great ride. The racing/dueling elements are very exciting. If you are with a group of people, try to ride so that you are in the front seats of the opposing trains. It makes the dueling sections that much more fun.
The MF trains are just terrific! They're both beautiful to ride, and to the eye. I wish more coasters would use them.
If you couldn't tell, I really like this ride.

I went to Hershey last year for the first time and rode LR a few times, both sides. It's definitely the best wooden coaster they have at Hershey, and it may actually be the best one I've ever ridden. I used to like Rotting Lumber (Rolling Thunder) at SFGAdv the best, but this one tops it (sorry) and the racing element adds to the fun and excitement.

I'm going to have to side with B&M dub here. I like the way the articulated trains track, but those bars are not for me. There were several times when the bar would just fall on me and it would rest right on my stomach. It was really bad. The HP ops were great as they would pull UP on the bars, but because of the way the bars are weighted, they have a tendancy to fall as far down as possible.
I found that the way for me to best enjoy that ride was to push the bar away from me throughout the ride (but that means no hands up :(). Still, I'm a fan of twisters so I liked the ride. It was my least favorite GCI in terms of ride quality (behind Roar, Gwazi-T, Gwazi-L, and Wildcat), but it was the most fun ride around (hence me riding it nine time in one day!) So while it doesnt make my top ten "Best" woodies, it's near the top of the "Just for $#!+$ and giggles".

Just curious as to why you dubbed Wildcat "Lightning Racer's little sister?". These are both medium sized wood coasters. According to the stats on RCDB Wildcat is only around 200 feet shorter than LRacer (3183 as opposed to 3400 for one side), both are around 90 feet tall, max speed is only 1 mph less on Wildcat (50 as opposed to 51).
I guess the illusion is that Racer is so much bigger because it is really two coasters wrapped around the same course... so much more lumber for both of those compared to Wildcat.

OK, so basically everyone that hates Millennium Flyers only hates them because of the lapbars, and not because of the way they track?
Tracking and comfort (i.e. how well the seats are padded) far outweighs any lapbar issues... that's not a big deal to me, though I'm a very average sized person... and I tend to push the bar down as many clicks as it can go, rather than leaving it as high as possible. (Some of us just aren't airtime junkies...)
Anyway, that's why I like Millennium Flyers. Gerstlauer's track reasonably well but they're badly padded and can get painful with strong laterals (like on The Legend). PTC's are well padded but they don't track well. Premier's SOB trains... ugh... though I still love the ride anyway (I know, I'm one of the few). Millennium Flyers track great and are comfortable too... even if the lapbar setup isn't perfect.

bit0mike: I dont mind having a lapbar firmly against my lap. In fact, there have been many times when I will pull the S:ROS bar down even further. Me, I'm a thin guy, but the Mflyer bar hits me right in the gut not on the thighs (I guess having a black "fat booty" and not a white "flat azz" causes me to sit further up in the seat.
Anyway, I've not had a problem with the tracking of any of the trains, but all around I've still found PTCs to be the best of the bunch. Work out that bar issue with the Mflyers though and I might change my mind.
