Urban dictionary - Thoosie

I'm sure it was referenced before, but I missed it.

However, Urban Dictionary gave me the word of the day for today, and it was Thoosie.

oh my.

I'll link to the definition. It's nsfw. Pretty funny, or insulting, depending on your sense of humor.

It's downward social comparison. Someone tries to create psychological distance from an identity they secretly fear being associated with. It’s a coping mechanism used to shore up self-worth through comparison rather than confidence in their own interests.

Yeah, I didn't link to it because of the potential NSFW factor.

as for the downward social comparison, yeah, that tracks.

Wow, the accuracy is pretty startling.

Yep, I can't argue with this either.

I’m offended. I don’t own any cargo shorts or wear park pins!!

Pretty funny and mostly spot on. On a bright note I have 3 kids, disproving some claims. :)

My sister and I, having traveled to Pennsylvania for a weekend-long park tour, found ourselves at Conneaut Lake in the midst of a crowd of folks with pins and cargo shorts (and giant cameras they were using to take pictures of brake levers and the like). And we concluded, if you've gotten on a plane to travel to an amusement park - as we had - you're an amusement park nerd. Or "thoosie" as the kids would have it.

The rest is just how willing you are to acknowledge it.

I spend a lot of time at Coasterbuzz but I've never considered myself a coaster enthusiast. I'm more a theme park enthusiast, I guess. That being said, since I spend more time at Epcot than just about anywhere else these days, I guess I'm more of a Boozy Thoosie.
