A brief word of thanks

Cool! I am the same username over there, so drop me a line on PMs if you'd like to chat more pinball.

It's funny becuase I find Pinside to be a lot like your site here. Robin (site owner/publisher) does a great job keeping the discussion going and (mostly) friendly.

Now that I do a little self-reflection, I realize that for all my hobbies (cars, roller coasters, pinball, model rockets, Lego), I utilize an independent site that's run mostly by one or two people.

I'm glad to see y'all surviving!!!

Thanks,

EV

Thanks Jeff. As I've navigated the changing social media landscape, the ones that offer a place to share interests without constantly being marketed to or pushed in one direction or another are the ones that have proved most valuable. Coasterbuzz is certainly among those. I appreciate this place and its members, and especially the way you've kept things together.

And, of course....thanks. There are only a handful of websites I log into at least once a day, and P-Buzz and C-Buzz are on that list. And I'm starting to look at myself in the mirror a little closer as I also thought the Geo Storm was pretty epic.

The base model's SOHC inline-four engine produced 95 hp...

Yeesh! That's hilariously terrible.

Yeah, but it's under 2300 lbs. I bet the 5-speed would be pretty fun to drive.

I recall base model Civics from late 80s/early 90s as having lawnmower engines too.

Word. My friend had a base '85 CRX. 91hp but only ~1700 lbs. Fun as hell to drive, despite the severe lack of torque.

Re: Geo Storm

The upgraded GSi (with 130hp) could do 0-60 in 8.5 seconds.

That's all. This is from a couple of months ago:

Hi. I created an account just to jump in and say I've visited this site a ton over the years to keep up with new projects and to learn a lot from the threads. The RideMan thread stands out as a reminder that community is important to protect in this grand information age.

Thanks for keeping the lights on.

Wow, that dude had a Chevy Nova...that was my first car:

It was a 1987 model year, got it in 1990, and after driving it for a day found it had a bad transmission (auto). I then had to wait an excruciating seven weeks for a new transmission (from a Geo Prizm!) to be shipped from Japan.

Ah fun, a couple of other Pinsiders. I rarely post there (rwilli82). About to go down the APC path on my Comet machine to make the game more interesting. My youngest has been dabbling in Arduino and programming in general. He is psyched that he's going to have a shot at writing a whole new ruleset and effects for Comet.

I rarely ever post in general only because there's nothing really interesting out there that hasn't been said. But I do appreciate the site you run, Jeff.

Man, things are getting really bad, and I imagine that people who can't subsidize their sites out of their own pocket are going to bail. 25k+ page views so far today, between CB and PB, $1.55 in revenue. I've never seen it this bad. And that's pretty solid traffic for the start of January, which is usually much slower.

Time to start your OnlyFans site to help keep the lights on.

"Content creator" is not an occupation. It's such a stupid term. If you're not a filmmaker, author, journalist, etc., then what exactly are you?

What would you call Josh, the Let's Game It Out guy? A comedian? A gamer?

Jeff's avatar

Comic reviewer, probably.

"Content" doesn't mean anything. The term cheapens what people online do (though to be fair, a lot of it is ephemeral nonsense). When things were analog, you didn't call people who wrote books or people who made movies or people who published in newspapers "content creators."

  • Nerdforge, Simone Giertz, Laura Kampf: Inventors
  • Veritasium, Cleo Abram, Hannah Fry: Science educators
  • MKBHD, Dave2D: Tech reviewers
  • Potato Jet, Gerald Undone: Videographers and video tech reviewers
  • Holderness Family: Comedians and parodists
  • Rick Beato: Music critic
  • On Broadway: Local tourism and culture guide
  • Legal Eagle: Journalists and legal educators
  • Doctor Mike: Doctor and health educator

And of course the countless channels and profiles that are from traditional media doing the same things (late night, news programs, etc.). If all you can do is describe your work as "content creator," you don't really do anything.

A buddy in junior high was convinced that the Storm was Geo’s version of the Camaro because they were both two door coupes and had similar looking headlights. I don’t think he had ever seen either one in real life.

But then again, what do I know?

I think you messed up, you posted the same picture twice.
