Steel Eel-Hyper or not?

I have not ridden it myself yet (will later this year), but the Steel Eel at SWoT seems to get good reviews on most sites I view. The interesting thing is that almost every site I have viewed classifies this as a hypercoaster, although it is well below 200 ft. Which brings me to my question. Is it necessary for a coaster to have a 200 ft. drop to be considered a hypercoaster, or can the term be used more subjectively to describe a non-looping coaster that has several large drops and produces a lot of airtime? If it feels as good as a hyper, but falls short of 200 ft., is it a hyper?
I really don't see why people label it as a hyper, when technically the definition of a hyper is 200-300 feet... I like the classification of a Junior Hyper better.

It is not a hyper, but just a typical out and back. 200 ft. = hyper. I also like the term junior hyper.

Lying requires 2 people.
1 to lie and 1 to listen.
No,it's actually a junior hyper.
A hyper is a 200ft+ rollercoaster like Magnum XL200,SD2K and so on.
but calling it a junior hyper is like calling a kiddie coaster though

Umm, isn't SD2K a 'giga'. Isn't it in fact the tallest coaster in the world, taller than many people's beloved MF. Fujiyama was the Japanese hyper that held the world's tallest coaster for several years before Goliath. Maybe that's what you were thinking about.
Steel Eel is 150 feet tall i believe,, making it 50 feet short.

Park without SkyCoaster, is no park at all.
Who really cares if it is considered a hyper or not? The term 'hyper' is just a buzzword. It really doesn't matter how tall it is. It just matters if it is a fun ride.

Are Gigacoasters Hypercoasters as well? I don't see why not, because they're goal is to provide a similar coaster sensation.
So if a large hyper is still a hyper, why can't a smaller one be a hyper too? It's goal is to provide a hyper-coaster-like sensation.

PCW needs something taller than a boomerang

If you're losing sleep over this... well, what can I really say that wouldn't be offensive?
