CoasterBuzz.com today released the results of the 2003 Coasters' Choice Awards(TM). Cedar Point and Knott's Berry Farm cleaned up this year with four and three wins, respectively.

Cedar Point won Park of the Year for the third straight year, a testament to the park's dedicated fan base. The park also won Best Steel Coaster for Millennium Force and again dominated for Best Capacity. In a surprising upset, Cedar Point beat out Busch Gardens Williamsburg for best food.

Knott's Berry Farm's new Intamin rocket coaster, Xcelerator, won Coaster of The Year and Best New Steel Coaster, while retaining its title for Ghostrider as Best Wood Coaster.

Following improvements around the park, Paramount's Kings Island made significant gains with The Beast and Son of Beast in the Best Wood category, following extensive maintenance in the previous off-season. The park scored its first nomination in the Best Theme category, presumably for its addition of Tomb Raider: The Ride.

European parks made a strong showing in the nominations this year, but failed to capture any awards, perhaps because the CoasterBuzz.com audience is predominantly from North America.

Universal's Islands of Adventure dominated for Best Theme again, despite any significant changes to the park since it opened.

Only three new wood coasters were eligible for the Best New Wood Coaster category, the prize going to one of CCI's last creations, The Lost Coaster of Superstition Mountain at Indiana Beach.

Virtual Midway upset last year's Coaster Site of The Year winner, Twisted Rails, with its late-season coverage of Top Thrill Dragster construction at Cedar Point and extensive photo galleries of the park.
