Second orca for Six Flags Worlds of Adventure in limbo

The federal government improperly issued a permit to Six Flags Worlds of Adventure to import a killer whale from Argentina, according to a complaint filed in federal court by several animal-rights groups. The orca is still in Argentina, where that government has not issued an export permit and is examining how it was captured. Officials at the Mundo Marino aquarium in Buenos Aires said Kshamenk, a 10-year-old male, was stranded in 1992. But the Humane Society of the United States, Earth Island Institute in San Francisco and the Wild Earth Foundation in Argentina say the orca was intentionally grounded and should have been released. Six Flags is not a named party in the suit.
