The curtain was raised Tuesday on one of the most dramatic encores in Denver history when plans were unveiled for the $14.2 million restoration of the 111 year-old Elitch Theatre into a year-round performing arts and community center in northwest Denver. Denver's oldest theater, dormant since it housed Chinese acrobats in 1992, will reopen in 2005 with what was described as "one of the biggest stars in Hollywood" appearing in a revival of "Harvey," Denver playwright Mary Chase's 1944 Pulitzer Prize-winner.
