Elitch Theatre set for encore

Posted | Contributed by General Public

The curtain was raised Tuesday on one of the most dramatic encores in Denver history when plans were unveiled for the $14.2 million restoration of the 111 year-old Elitch Theatre into a year-round performing arts and community center in northwest Denver. Denver's oldest theater, dormant since it housed Chinese acrobats in 1992, will reopen in 2005 with what was described as "one of the biggest stars in Hollywood" appearing in a revival of "Harvey," Denver playwright Mary Chase's 1944 Pulitzer Prize-winner.

This is great to hear. It is good that they are attempting to preserve what is left of the old Elitch Gardens, which has now been around for more than 110 years. Kudos to whoever instigated this.

Thats incredable! Im so excited to go see a show there once it reopens.

This is great that lots of old buildings and such are being restored. I love to see it when someone puts the money into restoring a beutiful old building like this one. It should be great when it opens again.

Have you hugged a Beemer today?

I just hope they don't change too much, but I am sure they won't. It is great, and hopefully it will last for another 110 years!

I'm always glad when older buildings get restrored rather than torn down. Does anyone have a link to pictures of it?

Is that a Q-bot in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?

I don't believe that there are any pictures of it on the net as there are few of the old park itself, never the less an old attraction such as that.
