In Charlotte this Saturday, Carowinds opens to the public with its brand new roller coaster Copperhead Strike. It’s the first double launch roller coaster in the Carolinas. "Double launch" means that instead of starting with a slow climb, this ride starts by launching riders from 0 to 42 miles per hour, then launches them again halfway through the ride at 50 miles per hour.
