Zonga... For Sale - CoasterBuzz

It appears that Zonga has been put up for sale by Six Flags. I suppose they cannot neuter it any further?

Last I heard it is in peaces over at Marine World's parking lot. Such a shame that great ride like that is in peaces. Having ridden several times at Astroworld and Marine World and call me crazy but I can honestly say it's one of my favorate steel coasters. I was probably one of the few people who liked it when it was Zonga(maybe because I was one of the few who knew who to ride it). Hopefully someone buys it and runs it once agian. I hope it will be bought by some park that can do it justice. Maybe it's time for some small park barely on the radar to pick it up?

At least it's not being scrapped, for now. I'd like to see it go to Knoebels, they could use a steel coaster.

I'd like to see it go to Cedar Point since they could use the scrap metal as theme for Maverick's "mining" areas.

Either that, or US Steel where they could melt it into one giant multi-colored blob and call it "modern art".

How about we use it as target practice for the next generation of nuclear weapons?

I don't know, I could probably think of other uses for it, but those are the most attractive.

Thats what I said about Magnum Force as well lol. That would be cool though. I don't know if it'll happen, but I think it would fit.

The coaster is fine, Just US Legal system and a messed up restraint!

A south american park will pick it up, take the shoulder harnesses off and it will be fine.

He's referring to PGA's Tidal Wave, which was purchased by Six Flags to use as parts for SFKK's Greased Lightning and SFOG's Mindbender and was sitting in SFMW's parking lot. I suppose parts of it may still be there.

I love it when people say a ride is fine ... there's just A and B and C in it's way! If a ride is "fine" that means I can get on it, ride it, and actually have a fun, pain-free ride.

Zonga is a horrible ride, the layout is slow and boring, you grind completely to a stop just as things start to get moving all through the ride. The thing bangs you side-to-side (and yes, your head thanks to the restraints, but also your knees, and your sides and your back) not only in the loops, and the turns, but on the LIFT HILL. How pathetic is that?

Maybe at one time it was a state-of-the-art design, but there's a reason that technological advances are incorporated into our lives ... typically they make things better.

I don't think Zonga is a bad coaster (although I've never ridden it), I think that changes made to the ride have made it something less than it once was.

"Used for parts to repair other Antons", at this point, isn't such a bad way to go I guess...kinda like organ donation.

Shame is that Wieland COULD have carried on the old man's legacy, or at least helped to *preserve* the rides....

^^^^^ Let's not forget that every problem with the ride listed in this thread were caused by the ride's unfortunate changes that were made once moved to the United States.

Grinding to a stop at each block: Yay America! Apparently we can't handle G-Forces and speed like other countries....

Restraints and Banging: Never mind the fact that Schwarzkopf lap bars have been proven to be safer than OTSR's, we have to also protect for the fact that genius people in this country would reach for the supports, and then sue when they actually smack into them.

If this ride were still in a country where people have some self responsibility, it would be amazing.
