Zero Tolerance for Queue jumpers?

Or maybe they should hand everyone 'a pot to p*ss in' when entering the line. ;)

I prefer to curb my enthusiasm ;)

On the subject, there's not much one can safely do about line jumpers, other then to say to them you object to them moving any further. It's not worth risking injury to make a scene, and you shouldn't have to police the line.

If someone insists on continuing past you make a mental note of others in the area who are witnesses and get the attention of a ride op at the earliest possible moment. Calmly tell the ride op what happened, point out the line jumpers if they're still in site, and mention that you have witnesses to back up your claim.

Some other things that I find are very effective in getting results:

1] Remain calm at all times, no matter what. And I mean both when the incident occurs *and* when making your complaint to the ride op. Many line jumpers will shout or swear in an attempt to get you angry. Don't fall for it.

2] All ride ops have name tags...use it to your advantage. Use it when you first approach them and introduce yourself, giving your first name as well. And thank them by name and shake their hand after they have handled the situation. Likewise if you end up speaking to a security officer.

3] Log a comment at Guest Services but if possible *do not* wait until the end of the day, when the office is most crowded. Do this no matter how the situation was handled, but *especially* if the outcome was positive. No matter what the outcome try to be as positive in your remarks as you can. Make sure you give the name of the ride, time the incident happened, and names of any employees you spoke to.

Using those tactics I have had park guests removed from lines and even the park. You can get results, you just have to know how to handle yourself.

Pssst....this guys a pro... :)

Very true about keeping your cool. I saw a guy beat up a line jumper and was himself arrested for assault. The guy in line physically prevented the guy from passing which turned into a scuffle.

I think the cops eventually let him go citing that the jumper started it...but do you really want to be at the mercy of someone else's mood?

But How will either a) letting the person back to their original spot in line or b) waiting for them to get their beverage of choice make your wait longer?

That's exactly right, it will make *NO* difference on your wait. You and I are in agreement here.

Now tell me how someone in front of you leaving the line to take a whiz and returning in front of you is any different. The way I see it, it *still* isnt changing your wait at all.

My current favorite home video game!

Cedar Point's policy is that stopping in line to buy a drink, glasses-strap, 3-d glasses and then joining your party is NOT line jumping. The concessions are in the line for a reason, to make money on those WAITING IN LINE. In most cases, CP employees enforce the line jumping by making the person re-enter the line at the beginning, however, it's not totally possible to watch the lines at all times. Once they're past the entrance, it's up to someone else (person at turnstiles, security) to catch it.

I made exceptions, but only to those leaving the line (bathroom, bloody nose, meds) that made sure I knew they were coming back when exiting the line.

As far as being kicked out of the park, it did happen but only to those that wouldnt' calmly enter the line at the beginning, or those caught multiple times by the same security guard. I saw people throw punches at security officers over it, those people were not only thrown out, but arrested for assault. FUN STUFF.

It is... Because, after a full day in the park, my memory of strangers faces doesn't last more than a minute or two. ;) ;)

They should be disciplined sternly but fairly and quickly. If someone jumped me, I would be dissatified and would contact appropriate security personnel and hope they would get a terrible but short-lasting rash, quite possibly inside their butt.
If you're in line in front of me and you stop for a soda and I pass you so what? You were thirsty and you never left the queue.

I've done it, my friends have done it, and I only know one person who it pisses off.

If you're in line in front of me and you leave the queue to go take a crap, too bad I don't give a crap if it's been 3 hours since you got in line. You're not getting back in front of me.

I snap flyers.

My thoughs on the situation:

-I don't care what the reason is once you vacate your spot in line other than at the vending machines, or 3d glasses etc, then there is no way in hell your getting back in front of me.

-I don't care if your kids, friends, etc are up there you should of thought of that before and entered the line with them, if its that big of a deal then have them come back to your spot in line.

-I don't care if your in a hurry and your rec bus, church bus, etc is leaving and you have to get this last ride in.

-I don't care if you went to put your crap in a locker.

-The bottom line is I don't care there is no excuse good enough for me, there has to be a bottom line a standard for line control and as I see it there is, no- exceptions what so ever.

My experiences:

-most parks will resolve the line jumper to the back of the line if they notice it or bring it to there attention.

-If you put your hands and arms across from rail to rail or stand close to your group creating a block which is what I do they can't get by if I don't move, then when they hop a rail give a shout out to a park op.

-Fists never solve anything and don't argue you may have to use a stern voice (fists and loud arguing is never proper especially when kids are around)

My favorite excuse is come on my groups up there,

I see it like this its like when a customer owes me money and they say come on its only 500 bucks are you that hard up for it then I say no but you must be if you can't pay me, Its like this if 50 idiots like you don't pay me the $500 you owe me then I'm owed $25,000,

So I see it like this its only one person joining their group of 4+ well okay one person isn't going to kill you but if every group in front of you has one person join them then that can cause you hours more of a wait. So the standard is no exceptions.

I just can't believe how ignorant people can be thinking they are better than everyone else and lines don't apply to them!

Line Jumpers are probably the same people that enter the Express line 8 items or fewewr cash only lines with 50 items and a check book at the grocery store, along with the person that says can I go in front of you I only have 2 things, well you know what I have 4 things! Wait!
