X's first drop nears completion as construction at the Mountain progresses

Posted | Contributed by xbombman

X's drop is nearly complete. And it looks incredible! Nothing else is really going on besides with X. Deja Vu continues to sit, and a few more pieces for Thrill Shot have arrived.

Also, the SFMM photo gallery has been updated with tons of new shots.

that coaster makes MF look very primative. Unfortunately, I don't see CP getting one of these anytime soon.

What a drop!

So....we know the name of the 4th attraction...but what is a Thrill-Shot exactly?

Forget about it. It can't be THAT bad!
No no no, Six Flags only mass clones cheaper rides that can basically fit at any park... Not large expensive rides.

Ok, I know this is a very anticipated coaster, but is it really newsworthy everytime a piece of track is added?
Look for a few more of these, both in and out of the SF chain. All will have similar, but slightly more tweaked layouts. Personally, I'd settle for a out and out clone of this baby here in the Bay Area. So there!

Remember, your relatives had no choice in the matter either!
Dude! DUDE! DUDE! Im there...i am so there opening day. I Dont care how long the waits are i gotta be there. Does anyone have a link to the coasters layout? Im dying to see what the rest of it will look like.

Well no one is forcing you to click on the updates are they? Besides, you answered your own question, it is a newsworthy coaster. And Jeff(American Coasters) is doing an amazing job covering the construction.

There is a picture of what Thrill Shot will look like, it also gives you the feel of how high this actually is.

There is the link, just scroll down a bit and there will be a picture that was taken from someone in Utah.
I am drooling over that drop on X, good thing I live right in Valencia. I will get pictures later this week.

"It's DeJa Vu all over again at The Mountain"
If you go to the official Magic Mountain website and watch the video of it, it shows that you don't go over the top of the drop facing straight down. It does a back flip into that position.
You couldn't go over the top in an ordinary position - why do you think Oblivion has the unusual trains it does. It would be too scary for the people on the front because you would be hanging in the vertical position. That is why i think it is going to back-flip over the peak.
ms696969: The video on the official Magic Mountain website isn't entirely accurate. The first drop will be face down like a skydive. The specs on Magic Mountain's website even show the ride as having 1 sky dive, which is the first drop.

Riddler's Revenge-Can You Stand It?
Holy &(%&%$&$(@@#(&%&%&#!!!!!!!!!!!! That's crazy!!! I didn't know it would be, like, a "90 degree." Is it a 90 degree drop?

when the ride opens, the wait is going to be like 5 hours! (j/k, but you never know). How big is the drop?

Ok, I am already getting that nervous excited feeling! That frist drop is going to be just insane! I can't believe that this coaster is coming along so well, I can't wait to hop aboard this thing. Man, talk about really testing your coaster riding ability, this thing is going to freak out A LOT of people, including myself! ;)
That is going to be the single most terrifying experience of my coater career. (up until now, that is!)
OMG! People will be flippin' all over the place!
That drop looks soo damn awsome! I'm going to be visiting Magic Mountain on July 10th, but it won't be open :( I live like 8 hours away! :(
