X's days numbered?

I think that X is one of the star attractions at the park. I don't think Superman, or Goliath are. I just couldn't imagine that park without X. That's like Batman the Ride missing at some Six Flags park. I could see them yanking out Viper, Ninja, Riddler's Revenge, Superman, Gold Rusher, and Scream! before they rip out X.

On top of that, that ride had to be really expensive to buy. That ride didn't come in any bargain store.

^^
If it's really a lot more rough than X...
that means it will probably kill people.
(Seriously, I needed to recover from riding X, it jerks you around pretty bad (tried it last in July))
Depends a little where you sit, but I really had the feeling it was a mass-spring problem in the tilting mechanism mostly, most of the jerks were front/back jerks.
Worst spot: Apex of second raven turn.

airtime for everyone

The trains are not the only problem with "X". The track is beginning to show the charecteristics of a mature Arrow coaster, and they don't age well.

Tennessee Tornado is still fine and it is eight years old. I'm not saying that it won't be rough as hell someday, but I believe declaring that X is headed down the old Arrow route at this point is a little premature.

Tennessee Tornado is more than fine. It is a testament to just how good arrow loopers can be.

Did I miss something? Six Flags got rid of a Deja Vu?

In an unrelated note, I'm truly amazed how every topic relates to SFA in some form or another. What an important park this must be.

^SFoGs Deja is being removed.

If Tennessee Tornado had been built even 5 years earlier, Arrow might still be a functioning company in its own right...

SFoG's is confirmed gone, I'd put the life expectancy of the other 2 SF Vus at "somewhere under 2 years"... ;)

I don't think its day are numbered especially since they just bought new trains and keep trying to make it run better, if its days were numbered they wouldn't have bought the new trains. I think that S&S should keep building loopers like Tennessee Tornado, thats a great roller coaster.

Except that all those rides are relatively easy to maintain, run reliably and don't kill you when you ride them.

What you mean is that it's eight seasons old, which is a whole lot different than eight years. Even with the down time that X has suffered since it's opening it has seen more operating time than the TT.

That's debatable. Dollywood is open nearly every day from April to December. Magic Mountain does weekends only a fourth of the year outside of the summer. If anything the two rides see about the same amount of operating time. (Yea, you could go into the individual day-to-day operating hours, but there's still nooks and crannies that even the two out)

^The two have absolutely nothing to do with each other except that they are from the same company. I haven't been on TT, but that ride looks nothing like X. It's like comparing a boomerang coaster to Batman the Ride. *** Edited 10/5/2007 11:34:01 PM UTC by Spinout***

No Vater,I was just pointg out that SFI has been on a removal streak when it comes to unreliable, problematic rides & like the vu's & X the vekoma flyer's aren't exactly reliable pieces of machinery.

No crap.

The comment was made that X is showing normal Arrow aging, and since it has been typified that all Arrow coasters age badly I pointed out that Tennessee Tornado is still fine. The end.

Canyon Blaster is another example of an Arrow coaster that tracks quite well. Granted, it's not exposed to the elements, but it is getting on in years...
