Xcellerator - CoasterBuzz

At Knotts official site it says Xcellerator will be open by May. They havent even started vertical construction yet so I dont think it is possible. But I am going in early july. Who thinks it will be open by then?

Or do we have another X on our hands.

Nah. I have faith that Knotts and Cedar Fair will pull it out. Remember it it in Cali, so weather should not even be a factor.

Thats true but lets hope the launch mechinism works right because this is a prototyope isnt it.

How do you know that? What kind of vert. construction? Track? Anyways, this coaster is really short and unless they have major problems on their hands w/ the hydraulic system. Other then that it's almost a guaranteed on-time opeing.

Intamin has tested the launch system, so that should help minimizing the testing of the launch system!

It will be open on time, providing that the hydraulic launch works as it is intended to. Yes of course they have tested it, but what does that mean when you put the ride into the real world. Look at X, they were pretty sure that they had it figured out, but there were certainly some adjustments that had to be made.

I have faith in Cedar Fair that everything will go as planned.

And by the way, track and suppourts vertical construction started today.

Maybe, maybe not. First let me say that I love Intamin rides, but they seem to have problems with their prototypes. Look at S:TE, V:TBC, Perilous Plunge, just to name a few. If it were a standard hyper or something, I'd say yes like everyone else. But it's a something new for Intamin, and now with all of Hypersonic's problems, who knows exactly when this thing will open.

But Ghostrider will definitely be blazing the rails in July, that alone is worth the price of admission!

It won't open BY may. But it should open IN May. It should open just in time for the Memorial Day weekend. And then Coaster Con!! Hey maybe PP will be reopened by then too!

At the Solace reception Jack said PP would be open "very soon."

Complete construction is expected to take only 5 weeks plus two weeks of testing. She'll be ready.

track is done. wow! i think i estimated it would be done yesterday or the day before. if testing goes well, the ride will for sure be open by may. i heard they are now promoting the opening day as may 25th, the friday before memorial day weekend, but it may be a saturday. that gives them just over 4 weeks to finish the station, test, theme, and landscape.
