Xcelerator's station takes shape at Knott's

Posted | Contributed by Karl DeAngelo

Knott's is still working hard, even after the completion of Xcelerator's circuit. In just one week the station framework has sprouted up and part of the roof has been installed.

It better be open by then. They better not have the same problems as STE did. I know it's a hydraulic launch and it's been tested before, but you never know.

Joke: Why does Riddler's line move so slow?

Answer: It's sponsored by AOL.

I can't until I go to LA in May! Woo hoo..

Have they run any tests on it at all yet?

SFNE drops the "floor" on SFNE for 2002! Visit my new site, www.geocities.com/sfneguide for some great pics of SFNE and lots of other info.!!!

If they have, its probably only been a pull through and thats about it. I wouldnt expect them to have the actual ride test for about 2-4 more weeks. But it could be sooner.

what are those large boxes under the launch covered by blue tarps? Look at the ACN update. could they be the cars? BTW, xcelerator is supposed to be open in 3 1/2 weeks, so testing better begin by the end of next week.
I talked to a worker at SFMM b4 they opened X and safety laws state that testing has to be done 2 months b4 the ride can open. X had a car break, so a new train had to be be made in China postponing testing another 2-3 months before X ever opened... same happened to Deja Vu. Lets hope the same doesnt happen to Xcelerator.
Nice, seem's like Cedar Fair is getting into impluse launch coaster's.

Mamoosh:

I was just at KBF yesterday and did some limited scouting of my own - nothing in the public view that I could see. I spoke with one of the employees at the GhostRider merchandise stand and here is her story (IMO, on the same level of credibility as the Dippin' Dots or Churro Cart guys): one of the trains is in one of the warehouses but the employees were not allowed to take pictures; it is a six-passenger vehicle; yada yada yada. I explained to her that she probably saw only the lead car attached to one of the cars, but she insisted on her version. I left it at that - it would not be feasible to have such short vehicles - the light weight would not be a good thing (thanks Martha!!). Thought you would get a kick out of my investigative report!! Based on what I saw of the station construction, they will be very hard-pressed to get it done and have tested the ride by Memorial Day weekend, IMO.

It says erected, lol.

Guide to IB

Well don't we know for a fact that the trains will hold 20 people?
NickNickNick -- that's what the specs, etc. say. This employee just thought she "knew it all" -- IMHO. The trains have to be "weighty" and longer, otherwise a one or two-car train would really zip over the top!! That top hat element is massive - I can't wait for the ride to open and try it out.
i remember seeing a close up of the train on the top hat. the train has 6 cars, but the last car had no seats. i'll try and find the photo.
