Knott's Berry Farm has topped out their new 205-foot tall coaster by completing its top hat. They also did work preparing and placing supports for the second over-banked turn as they race towards their May 2002 opening.

Wir schrauben für Euch die Achterbahn zusammen!!!
That ride looks incredible. Thanks for the great pics. Just out of curiosity, do you expect the ride to be fairly quiet (outside of the screams)?

Holy tophats, Batman! (oops, wrong park)
Good grief, Charlie Brown! That is absolutely incredible!!! I'm going to have to make a trip to Cali.

Beer, my soon to be wife, coasters, and the FREEDOM OF SPEECH. Is this a great country or what!!
While that tophat looks like the most amazing section of track ever, for me personally, I can almost guarantee X will *still* be the coaster to beat in Cali.
Xcelerator has basically the launch and tophat. X keeps you guessing the entire ride! Now I obviously haven't ridden Xcelerator (mmmm, can I please? Soon?) so I will wait until I do to make a FINAL judgement, but as cool as Xcelerator looks, I don't think that one element can take me away from X's face-first-front-flipping 215' drop, among all the other craziness that coaster provides.
Even though I'm going on the ACE European trip, dare I say, I'm *extremely* jealous of all you going to the Con! Even if they only opened X and Xcelerator, I would be content!

Although the coaster looks totally awesome to me and I'd love to have one at my home park...does this element look ugly to you?!
I think that tophat is pretty ugly. When you think about it most coasters are pleasing to the eyes but the first thing I thought when I saw the pics was it looks crooked and basically messed up.

Hmmmmm
Doesn't seem to have designated areas on the top hat so far for brakes..... what about roll backs?
In theory, if it uses a braking system similar to the other Intamins (magnetic) ala MForce or Superman, then wouldn't there need to be brackets on the side for them? How would they raise up and down. Surely because of the twist in the train/track they would either have to be at the base, or on the train's undercarriage.
Now, let's assume that the brakes would be at the base of the incline. When a rollback occurred, I am not too sure I would want to trust Intamin's magnetic braking system given the ummm errr burps it had last year.

The brake fins are all located on the launch... and you'll also notice the launch is at an angle, allowing the train to glide gently back into the station if there is an aborted launch/short shot.

There are actuators under the track that will push the fins into an engaged position. Personally, I think things will be fine... the launch is long enough that even if only 2/3 the fins came up due to some accident or malfunction, things would probably be just fine.
