Xcelerator is Back!

The one and only rocket coaster is back in action! I went on it tonight for the first time, and let me just say that it was absolutely wonderful. (I will write a full review soon).

And of course, thank you to all of the naysayers who predicted that it would be down for weeks of months. This really wasn't a big deal at all... probably just a little downtime to ensure future consistency in operation.

I am sure glad to see the ride blasting off once more, and highly recommend the experience to everyone here!

0-82 in 2.3 seconds! =Wow!

I'm going saturday. I heard the line got down to just twenty minutes at around 9:00. this rocks, i'll get re rides. BTW, whipeout is closed i guess pending an investigation of the one in SFMW. it was a horrible ride for the outside rider (which is usually me) so i never liked it anyways. all other attractions are open including snoopy rocks on ice and all wheels Xtreme.

That is one thing that I recommend: go late! I got in line at 9:00 and rode at 9:40. The lines on every ride particularly Ghostrider, Xcelerator and (not surprisingly) Perilous Plunge go way down in the later hours.

The reason my Xcel wait was so long had to do with the fact that they were only running one train. Apparently, the state wants them to add another sensor on the station turnaround (to lessen posibilites of block violation and collision) before they run two trains. I hear that will be corrected soon.

I'll also arrive early in the morning at like 8:30 and eat.
So they haven't started running 2 trains yet???? Did they switch the trains then after opening day. Because I saw pictures from that Sunday and it was the Purple train with people in it.
Its funny I had a dream about it and it slingshotted me outta my seat barely keeping me in, hehe.

Coasting Ohio, where did you see those pictures? I heard that they needed the 2 additional sensors and i also heard that the purple train needed some modification so it doesn't break the pulley. I'd expect both trains up and running either this weekend or next,

Why would one train need modification and not the other? Arent they built exactly the same?

I hate to be negative, but after having the thing delayed a month couldn't they have atleast got the thing to work right with two trains? Only 20 passengers per ride; this thing has terrible capacity as it is. I'm not sure if two trains would help because they will more than likely be stacked the whole time due to the rides compact layout, but it's worth a try.

It would help. It wouldnt double capacity, but it would increase it by atleast 50 percent. They could atleast ave the train halfway loaded while the other one is in cycle.

IOA Rules, you have yet to say anything positive about this ride.

Here is the story why they can't run both trains: when the state came to sign the ride off, just hours before opening, they approved everything to run. However, they told Knotts that they need the sensor after the brakes before they can run two trains. I'm thinking that it will be in place within a few days.

The idea is that they didn't think they would need this sensor until last weekend... I hear it will be done this weekend.

20 passengers per train is not that bad, at least not when comparing it to the ride it is most similar to, H:XLC & Dodonpa. They only hold 8 per train.

Also, I am more than happy to eat my words with salt & buttah on this one. I thought it would be a while until this was fixed.

Nothing... NOTHING... can prepare you for... the Fourth Dimension!

Yea, but hypersonic runs 2 trains.
And so will Xcelerator in a few days.

OK, so Hypersonic runs 2 trains. That's still 16 peeps for every two launches on H:XLC versus 20 for every one on Xcelerator. Xcelerator still wins. Of course, we're only talking capacity here.

Thats true, but that is still horrible capacity
Honestly, the operators at knotts will finish preparing the train in the station faster if another train is waiting on the brakes than if there was all the time available in the world to launch the train. anyways, i heard they've been preety efficient and the line moves fast.

I still think the idea of two train op on this ride is fairly useless and won't work, just as three train op didn't work on GR even though it was built for that.

Xcel just has too short of a ride time and too long a load time for this to be realistic. By the time the second train gets into the station and people start getting out the other train will be back in the brakes waiting to get into the station. And I actually think, considering the load times, the wait for this ride hasn't been bad so far. Although I suppose during the Haunt it would be awful.

With their restrictive policies and loading procedures I don't think load times can be much improved. But we'll see. I'd love to see two trains running well (with people!), but then again, I'd still like to see three trains on GR! :)

I'd rather have a two train operation on Xcel, whether it makes a huge difference or not. Anyone else notice how slowly the train turns back into the station? I'd much rather be seated, ready to launch rather than waiting for the train to creep back into the station a 3 mph. Nuff said.

With two trains the train would wait right behind the station while the other launches. as soon as it clears the top hat the train will be brought into the station. also, the total ride time is 62 seconds (launch to brakes and then back into the station) without stacking. the brakes take like at least 25 seconds because the train's traveling at less than 5 MPH. I'm sur capacity would be drastically improved (say a jump from 600 to 850) and the lines will become much shorter by like 20 minutes.
