I thought Intamin was a little better than this though. They're my fave coaster company and I just thought they'd be a little more reliable than to break down in the first week of operation to the gp.

This has nothing to do with how "good" Intamin are. You don't see B&M trying to build a coaster this advance. I think they have done a damn good job so far.

It's not that advanced. They are using a piston instead of air, a pulley, or there standard magnetic launches.

I was there yesterday, hoping to ride, but alas... The lady at guest relations said that they planned to have it open by today, but I have a feeling that she was told to say that. I hope it gets fixed soon. I'm sick of awesome, but closed new coasters in SoCal.

NEWS UPDATE:
Latest news update on westcoaster's boards says xcelerator is doing continuous test runs. it should be open in a few hours knowing KBF mechanics. they fixed PP and monte and xcel's major breakdowns (i mean draining PP, taking out launch mechanisms on xcel and monte) and managed to open two up within hours (monte and PP). thank god the intamin tech didn't leave,
You can't expect a brand new ride to have 100% up time.

Yes way. Ever heard of Supermam The Escape? Volcano The Blast Coatser?

Millennium Force?

Wicked Twister?

Intamin can sure make a bang once they fix all the bugs.
