"X" for x-mas...

And who would go to a park on Christmas anyways? I think that their would be religion problems if SFMM marketed it as a 'Christmas Gift'. ;)

But hey, as long as it opens... :)

What's with the "religious" challenges.
Isn't X mas already a Marketing tool used by retailers.

X should have been named XXX

gatorwoddie---Even though I'm not the least bit religious, I've always disliked "Xmas" instead of "Christmas". There might be something to "X" on "Xmas" though. I think the riders will be putting the Jesus back into it on the first drop......."Geeeeezzzuss!!!"
I have always looked at X-mas as an abreviation of Christmas. Looking at it any further then that is really not necessary. My family have used it, friends have used it, and we all believe in god. Just take it with a grain of salt.

Life is to short to worry about simple things.

Here is to hoping "X" opens soon for the holiday season.

Please don't put X-mas.  Its Christmas.  Your X ing out Christ in the word and thats the real meaning of Christmas.  Jesus Christ. Thanks.

But dosen't the "X" in X-mas stand for Christ on the Cross.  That's what I have always been told.  They both mean the same thing.  It's just a shorter way of saying it.

Other than that, I think it's a good thought that maybe will actually happen!

Yeah, "X" actually is a symbol for Christ.  So the abbreviation isn't offensive.

Still, I don't like it, because it makes it all the easier for most people to forget the real meaning of Christmas.

You can't spell "dishonorable" without "honorable."

That's true too!

Related topic... Did anyone else buy a pass thinking they would be able to ride X all summer? I bought a pass in May, thinking X would be open. Most coasters open at start of the summer, right? I was surprised when they told me it would open in August, and here it is December and it's still not ready.

My question is this... Is there anyone out there who feels they deserve compensation? I feel it is justified to get a 2002 pass . SFMM told me "Buying a pass doesn't guarantee a ride will be open." My view is that they advertised it and I only bought a pass because of being told X would open in 2001. It looks as if X will not open in 2001, and if it does, it will be for about 4 days, then it's next year.

What if you bought movie tickets, but the film was blank? Would you want your money back?

Anyone in the same boat?

Can't this thing go any faster?

This site shows that X is opening 12/24.  It's at the bottom of the story.  I hope it's true because I'm going to SFMM from 12/26-12/28 either way.

Interesting to read...

"Six Flags spokesman Andy Gallardo said yesterday that the California park will debut its 15th coaster on Christmas Eve, long before Cedar Point's 15th coaster opens in May. He disputes any claim from Cedar Point that his park won't reach that world record first."

.. like I said.. interesting... my prediction was correct [ok, so maybe it wasnt a prediction, but an idea.. and think it would be cool for SF to do that :)]? Hopefully that article will also for-see the true future!

That would be cool, but it wouldn't get as many opening day crowds as it would normally, not many people wanna go there on Christmas, besides enthusiasts and such.
I was planing on going the first week of 2002. Does anybody know what the crowds will be like?

Thanks

The park's open on Christmas Eve!?  That's not cool.

Its Christmas Eve.  Let your employees get the day off.  I'll shut up because this really has nothing to do with the topic

You guys are friggin pathetic, oh my god, you guys are flippin out saying that X isn't gonna open, when is it gonna open, you finally get pretty much official word when X is opening and you guys are whining and crying that its finally opening, but on a day you people don't like. So what if the lines arent gonna be long who cares, that means more rides for the people that get an early christmas gift, an opening of a new prototype coaster. Stop whining, X is finally opening, I can't wait to see people's reactions when they get off the ride.
