X broken down?!?

Two days ago when I was at magic mountain X broke down after about four runs , thus I could not go on it . If any body knows what happened Please tell?!?!
It was running fine Sunday 2/24, although only one train operation
When I went to X last Saturday it broke right when I was in line after 5 hours of waitnig.
I was at SFMM on Sunday and Monday of President's Day Weekend, and here is what I could tell you.  X opened late on Sunday at about 12:30 in the afternoon.  The attendants really couldn't tell us anything other than the ride was experiencing "minor technical difficulties."   When X finally opened, it was with the single train operation that everyone experienced again this past weekend.

I was talking to some guys in line with me, and they said that they were at the park on Saturday 2/16, and the ride was operating fine with two trains going all day.  I'd assume that whatever the reason for the dealyed opening/recent breakdowns is the reason for the single train operation, but I have no idea what that is.

I did find it interesting that I didn't see any mechanics working on the second train at any time on Sunday or Monday, so it may not be a problem with the train.   Again, I have no idea what could be the problem, as I'm not one of the mechanics.  I just thought this was interesting.

P.S.  Was anyone else blown away by the size of the transfer table?   That concrete slab looks as big as a 7-11 parking lot!

5 hours!!!!!!!!!!
the line was 5 hours long? I am going there in like 3 weeks and i dont know about waiting for 5 hours. Thats like half the day! Is this typical?

Rode hard and put up
wet. Aint down but i cant get up yet. Its a long ride back to the way i want to feel.

Sometimes a coaster will be restricted to single train operation if there is an intermittent malfuction with one of the proxies on the track that deal with block clearing.  If there are only 3 blocks on X, and one of them has a problem, only 1 train operation is possible to do safely.  I can imagine the lines with 1 train and the slow load/unload cycle make the wait unbearable.  It is better than having 2 train operation and stranding people on the lift hill at random intervals due to a proxy problem, however.
Are they letting you use Fast Lane/Lo-Q whatever for X?  5 hour wait isn't so bad if you can be doing everything else in the park during that time.
FP - On President's Day Weekend they were still alowing FastLane for X.  I'm not sure if that is still the case.

It was down for technical difficulties, that's all you need to know.
5 Hours? Who in the world would wait 5 hours? As amazing as X sounds I would not wait 5 hours.  Something smells fishy here, a really big fish if you know what I mean.  Like the kind that are 18 inches when ya catch em and are 36 when you tell the story of catching them.

how many trains does x have? 2 or 3
X has 2 trains. There is no longer 3 trains.

Yes, I know people will disagree, but X will never run 3 trains.

Have you ever considered that maybe it's not the park that's the problem, but YOU?

DWeaver, I trust and respect you comment, as you have ALWAYS steared me in the right direction. Such a confident fact about X NEVER running three trains leads me to ask:  WHY?? It was designed for three train operation, why will it not run three trains now?

MagnumForce - I was there on Presidents Day and got in early, headed right over to X and got all the way to the top of the steps at the loading platform. I could see the train about 30ft in front of me. It "looked" like about a ten minute wait, but took me an hour and a half before finally riding (although we did wait for the back, any available seat wouldve sped us up about 15-20 minutes). Jusdging by that estimate, and the length of the line when we got off, there is NO DOUBT in my mind that the wait was around 5 hrs. Sad but True, the people who get in line dont know that.

ebskoot - If X is only running a single train, the capacity is horrible! Plus, everybody in the park goes straight to X. I would suggest you get there early, and get in line. Go Directly to X and get in line ASAP. You should be able to get in a ride before the queue fills up. If they are only running one train, call it quits after the first ride and move on. If they are running two trains, perhaps you get more rides.

My other car is now an Arrow X4D!

Ok fair enough Loaded G,  that statement I made is not entirely correct. X was built to run 3 trains and may in fact do so at some point. It's actually more my opinion than any inside info. But apparently X has gobbled up so many spare parts for the main two trains, that there isn't much of a third train left. Hopefully a brand spanking new third train will show up, but this combined with the trouble they've had running two, leads me to believe that 3 trains is a pipe dream. And unfortunately I'm not the only one that holds this opinion.

In any event, looks like the 3 train is gone!@

My .02 cents:  X running w/ three trains is a pipe dream [thanks, DW].  Yes, it was designed to run with three, but they stack two trains as it is now.  Not sure how a third would improve capacity.
When I rode X back in January, they could've easily ran 3 trains.  The loading/unloading in the morning was incredible(well for X at least).  Things went like clockwork.  But when I rode it later in the afternoon, I noticed a different crew working the ride and it took much longer.  My next trip back on Feb. 16th was the opposite.  We were in line for about an hour and it barely moved so we decided to ride all the other coasters.

Just like Flight of Fear was designed to run 4 trains?

smile...it's cheap, and people will wonder what you're up to. :)
I've been there, and sure, good ride and all but this is one of worst managed coasters every. They usually run one train, and the loading cycles reached 15 minutes three times...
15 minutes for one train? You have got to be kidding that is totally and completely unnaceptable.  Send some of CP's Staff out to the Mountain and let them show them how it's done.
