Are you referring to the Golden Tickets? If so, how are these any better? They are simply a poll of AT's subscribers, the bulk of which are enthusiasts. I am not sure why the Golden Tickets have much more validity than many of the online polls given by Coasterbuzz, Theme Park Critic, Screamscape, etc.
Adam
And, as usual, Adam comes in with the rare valid point. I do not understand why some give more weight to the Golden Tickets or Mitch's poll, or Pouplar Science or Discocery Channel, etc (ad nasuem). I liken it to the Movie Award Shows. You have the People's Choice awards, The Golden Globes, The Oscars. Hell, even if they all agreed that "The English Patient" was the best movie of 1997/1998 I *still* believe in my heart of hearts that the movie sucked "like Monica in a humidor" (not my term, I stole it from somewhere :)).
I'd be willing to bet, that if you polled the right people, you could get Hecules to be a top ten coaster!

It isn't so bad. . .
Once you're used to it
Oh my gosh. Six Flags is promoting one of their rides and not mentioning Cedar Point, or tied records, or using absolute facts, or ............
Six Flags is not doing anything that is not currently being conducted by others to hype their products. Look at Coke and Pepsi, McDonalds and Burger King, etc. Each say their product is the best and use polls, quotes, etc. to back up their claims. Six Flags is just using polls, and comments that highlight their particular ride.
On Good Morning America or 20/20 (I can't remember the exact one) the other day, they ran a story about the movie industry placing "rave" reviews from factitious sources on their movie adds. At least SF is using "real" sources, granted they might be flawed, but they can be referenced.
I know SF deserves a lot of what they get. But it has become ridiculous.....Six Flags is a business and they prop themselves up, but who doesn't in the business world? Even Cedar Point can stretch the truth out a little.......
Named Top Thrill Dragster, the $25 million steel scream machine will be Cedar Point's 16th roller coaster - more than anywhere else on Earth - and will be one of the largest single investments in the 132-year history of the park.
If I remember correctly the GBOWR says that both SFMM and CP are currently tied with 15 apiece. Each are building a coaster, so doesn't that make two places on earth with 16 coasters?
Just call it the same on both sides.

Given the fact that X sat SBNO mid summer and SF had to even remove the coaster from it's website, I'm sure they feel they haven't had a chance to truly promote the ride. Many people around the LA area don't even know yet that X eXists.
Besides, this is done all this time by the movie industry, CP and Knott's, ect. There is nothing wrong with sticking up for a product your proud of, X received alot of bad press over the summer due to all the problems. Besides, even people who don't like the ride love to talk about it...;)
