Wow!! Holiday World is world class.

Just got back with my daughter on our 3 park excursion to PKI, SFKK, and HW.

I am now a believer. Holiday World is by far and away the way a park should be run. Friendly staff, 2 great wooden coasters (although I found Legend to be a much better ride than Raven), clean and relaxing atmosphere, and a kick butt waterpark.

The free Pepsi fountain drinks is nothing new to me because Kiddieland near Chicago does the same thing, but it is still a great thing to have.

My daughter loved 3 things the most at this park.

1. Legend

2. Holidogs

3. Splashin Safari

I also wanted to say to Paula (Raven Maven), that you and your fellow employees are the best in the business. I will now be a once a year visitor. The 7 hour drive is well worth it.

This isnt really a Trip Report because I plan on going into detail on all 3 parks visited. I just wanted to give a shout out to one of the greatest parks in existence. :) :)

Too bad I can't get their anytime soon. Its far from NYC. However by their next attraction I should be able to fly down there. Even without one I want to go.
Don't we already know how great HW is?

Although the fall event for CBuzz was cancelled, my husband suggested we still make reservations for one of the new suites at Santa's Lodge and make a trip this fall. The fact that my non-enthusiast husband is willing to make the 7 hour drive to revisit says a lot.

Yes, we did... just 2 pages back. But I think when this was posted, they were both on the same page. Go figure...

It IS as bad as you think, and they ARE out to get you.

It's about time, Scott! :) Glad the experience was so uplifting. Now, let's just do something about that drive.....

First Spinal Tap, THEN puppet show
Yeah, like drive a little faster.:) It's only 4 and a half hours from my house and I live on the South Side. How did you take to get there?

------------------
In my CD player: Centaur - In Streams
Queens of the Stone Age - Songs for the Deaf
Fu Manchu - California Crossing

4 and half hours? Well, you do live on the southside which is closer than me. I live in Elgin.

I didnt want to cut all the way back to Louisville to catch I-65 and I didnt want to head directly west to catch I-57 so I took Rt. 231 straight north until I hit Lafayette and caught 65 from there. Holiday World has no direct route to Chicago. It sucks. :(

I was pushing 70 mph on 231 and pushing almost 90 mph on I-65. It still took me 7 hours to get home when I hit nasty traffic on 80-94 going into Illinois.

To prove I have a lead foot, I made it from SFKK to HW in about 50 minutes. :)

Why do Illini consistently drive like complete Morons? I thought Hoosiers and Wolverines were bad. ;)

But seriously that kind of speed is too much even if you THINK you can handle it.

With my various park experiences I have yet to find a better park to go to. Cedar Point is huge and insanely efficient. They run 3 freaking trains on Corkscrew, but they just have that relaxed feel to it that Holiday World, plus Cedar Point doesn't have 2 of the top 5 woodies in the world. I myself prefer Raven, the reason is because I'm and airtime fanatic and it hands down has more, but I love Legends length and the forceful laterals. Keep going Holiday World, you are the best park in the world!

Because we can. :)

I dont know. I dont even realize I am going at those speeds sometimes. Its just the nature of the beast I guess. :)

Morons??? Easy duckboy. ;)

LOL but seriously, if someone goes flying by me at an insane speed on the turnpike, 9 out of 10 times that person is from Illinois, no joke. Of course Ohio is at the complete oppisite end of the spectrum, on I-75 I look like the guy from Illinois on 80/90 in Indiana.

Thats just it. When I finally got on 65 heading toward Chicago, I was actually keeping up with traffic doing close to 90 mph. Of course most of the cars near me were from Illinois. :)

I always go 9 over no matter the speed limit. 64 in a 55, 74 in a 65, and 79 in a 70. You won't get bothered for 9 over.

Although while heading to PKI closing last year I did get stopped on 75 for an 82 in a 65, I was running late and speeding to get there on time, I didn't get ther eon time :(

Doing just those few MPH wasn't going to really get you there much faster, Brent. Let's do some stuff I learned first week of kinematics in my first year of high school physics.

We'll be working with the equation speed (v) = distance (d) / time (t)

We're going to solve for t, so here's the formula:

t=d/v

Let's say you've gotta go 100 miles. The speed limit is 65.

t=100/65

That'd be 1.538 hours (about 92 minutes)

Let's say you pick up the pace your 9mph over the speed limit:

t=100/74

That'd be 1.351 hours (about 81 minutes)

A whole 11 minutes faster. For your 9mph over the limit (about 3 over what most Ohio cops will pull you over for if they're having a bad day...) your odds of getting pulled over increased.

Now, after PKI closing last year was it really worth it?
:p

- John
I snap flyers.

John, i was going 90 when i saw the cop, I got down to 82 by the time he got me. ;)

And as far as I am concerned going slower then the flow of traffic around you is more danger then doing 5-0 over with the flow of traffic. BTW I have NEVER been stopped for 9 over anywhere, and I always drive 9 over unless it's over that.

And you are calling us Illini's morons? ;)

------------------
Arena football has arrived in the Windy City. Go "Chicago Rush"

I NEVER drive that fast, this was a case of man I need to hurry as I was only 20 miles from the park plus a look down at the speedo and say "Crap I am going 90 kind of thing" Just as I did that, there was Mr. Highway Patrol.

Now granted 82 would have not given me a problem here in Michigan and likely woudlnt have given me a problem in Indiana. But in Ohio, I knew I was screwed.
