Worst "Shot" ever fired into the coaster "War"

Did you bother to read what I wrote?

S:TE was built in 1996...*seven years* ago. A ride like that was fine seven years ago. A ride like that *isn't* fine now. Yes, S:TE is lame now. I'll be the first to admit that. But I'll also argue that Dragster is just about as lame.

Fujiyama is 260, yes, but drops just 230. S:TE stands 415' high (and, when it opened, the car *did* just about reach that 400' level). Those are not *nearly* as close as you claim. Heck, take a look at the speed of the rides (100ph vs 80mph) and it's obvious that there is a much larger difference between those rides than 40'.

sry bout the double print, i did not see that there were two pages, also meaning that my post may be outdated and totally unnecesary.

While 400 feet above the ground S:TE's drop was never more then about 330 feet.

If given the choice I'd choose a hamburger over a hotdog anyday of the week.

It doesn't matter how high the drop ever really was. My point is that it most certainly *was* the first to break 100mph and that's a pretty impressive statistic. Dragster offers nothing unique or cool.

And S:TE most certainly *was* built in 1996.

You never cease to amze me Nate

Ohh yea, hydrolically launched in less than 4 seconds to 120 mph with the roar of a dragster revving its engine, watching the christmas tree lights count down, and then peeling out with "smoke" in its trails.... and then another one waiting right behind it to do the same thing.

...you telling me that's not cool?!?

Boy, you be gots to be k-R-a-Z-y!

That's nothing,Dodonpa can do 120 in less than 2 seconds. That's what it started out as in it's first trial runs.

If you ask me,I'm kind of disappointed that CP didn't go with a Muppet Show theme.;)

Nate - ToT in Austrailia was the first to break the 100mph barrier for modern day coasters.

Dragster was the first to break the 120mph barrier (sounds silly doesn't it? That's really all 100mph is, to people who use the metric system, it's what...160kph? What a barrier! LOL) and first to have a vertical spiral on a full circuit coaster. Oh and it's red and white color scheme is also a first at Cedar Point.

Joe, who thinks Dragster is one helluva great ride and knows that Nate knows he's in the *extreme of the extreme* minority opinion :) He also knows that Nate LOVES having dissenting opinions! Makes this place more fun.

Outside of the votes for worst shot, specifically regarding Mean Streak, or SOB, I'd have to say that most of the rides mentioned are poor prototypes, but were actually the foundations of something far better, or more advanced.

Drachen Fire? Say what you will about Toomer, or B&M's possible involvement, or Arrow trying new technology. The fact is the ride had moments, and was a sight to behold. Poor engineering resulted in a ride completely rocky and underwhelming, but that doesn't dilute the fact that DF offered a radical departure from previous technology. If it weren't for DF, we'd be in a different place, coaster wise.

The same goes for TTD or Xcelerator. Sure, problem children, but the brightest stars..... You know? Fixing the issues are always in motion with these upstart coasters, but thank God for Intamin's stunning attention to absolute madness when making designs. They are breaking the molds, and Hershey will finally (it appears) get a coaster that promises to be what Intamin foresaw, and we all dreamt TTD or Xcelerator would be in the first place.

You gotta break some eggs to make omelettes, you know?
