Worst "Shot" ever fired into the coaster "War"

There have been some bad coasters introduced into the coaster "war" but i think the worst was Drachen Fire. I may have liked the ride but it was very unpopular and was practically always a walk on. What other coasters have been bad "shots" in the coaster "war"?

Windjammer and The Flying Coaster are the first two to come to mind.

The Flying Coaster as a big mistake? Oh, that hurts... and just as PCW is about to get a brand spankin' new one...

That's just great... looks like that'll make yet another mistake in the making within the big coaster wars.

I sure wish someone would give it a positive review so I got something to look forward to.

I got another any togo torture device.
X and Deja Vu at SFMM not because they are bad rides but because of the trouble the park had opening them. X was supposed to put SFMM over the top in coaster counts which it did but just barely a few months before Cedar point fired back with Wicked Twister.

Goliath at SFMM. And do I need to mention SD2K?

I mean, do you really need to claim the record by 6 or 8 feet? If you were really looking to impress the people with a world record atleast make it taller than 6 or 8 feet than the old record holder.

I'm not saying that SD2K is a bad ride or anything (I haven't ridden it, but heard its a great ride), but if they were in it for the record they could have done better.

Huh? You know SD2K was a bad shot how? I can't see how a coaster with 3 hyper- to giga- sized drops can be written off as a mistake.

As for the slight difference in height from MF...you must have forgotten they were both built in 2000. They opened within months of each other.

Sorry, DB. While I have not ridden it I know plenty of people who were at ACE's Summer Con in Denver. I can't recall one positive comment. Seems to me the folks at PCW didn't head over to SFEG to ride one first.

SD2k a "bad shot"? It's the biggest, most popular ride over there. A huge attraction to the park, and a killer ride! That's pretty much like a Japanese person saying that MF was a bad shot.

My votes....DF, Windjammer, and SOB. SOB's "ok", but not what they gambled on.

The Bat would have to make the list. I know it has gone through some revisionist history and enthusiasts these days seem to remember it fondly. However, it was actually a piece of junk that was poorly designed and quite boring--- save for a brief moment prior to the 2nd lift. Imagine, if you will, the Iron Dragon---but higher and longer. Long, slow, and boring. At least it served as a protocol for a couple decent suspendeds at a later date. At least X and Deja Vu are exciting whenever they run. Unfortunately, the Bat sucked when it did not run and was not much better when it did! It did, however, have some cool looking trains and was fun to watch.

JMHO!

That's odd. You are the FIRST person I've heard "diss" the Bat.

Seeing as The Bat was just as bad, if not worse than Deja Vu, I'm sure there were some complaints... ;)

SOB
That's odd. You are the FIRST person I've heard "diss" the Bat.

I know---all I ever see is positive comments about the Bat. I truly believe that most of these comments are from enthusiasts who never got the chance to ride it. It was a tough one to get on as it was broken down a lot more than some of today's guilty parties (X, TTD, etc....)! I attribute most of the positive comments about the Bat to:

1. Kings Island has a lot of fans among the enthusiast community---for good reasons.

2. It was taken out---and everything is better once it is gone! This is human nature.

3. Since most never got to ride it---they have a glorified picture of this ride's capabities in their head.

4. It looked cool. Even if you did not get to ride it.

I was lucky enough to get 7-10 rides on this thing. I found it quite boring and uneventful. This is just my opinion.

Just so you know----I tend to like Kings Island quite a bit--as far as bigger parks go. I loved this park back when The Bat was there---prior to Paramount coming in! I still think the Beast is one of the greatest. The Racer is dear to my heart as I've logged----literally thousands of rides on this thing. I even miss the Screamin Demon!!! This is no attempt to bash KI or start a war. I just think the Bat---besides being a terrible design---was in fact---a very tame and boring ride to the likes of Iron Dragon (it was a little better than Iron Dragon because it was much higher in the air)! This type of ride just never did it for me. If you like Iron Dragon though---you would love the Bat.

In my opinion---Big Bad Wolf and Top Gun are much more thrilling rides than the Bat ever was. This is the reason I feel confused when I read all the positive stuff about the Bat from enthusiasts. Also, my dad and brother logged a few rides on this thing with me, and they share my view of this ride. To be honest they are the only two people besides myself, that I know, actually rode it!

Maybe I just caght this thing on 7-10 of the worst rides it ever gave. But I don't think so! I would be intereted to see what those who actually rode it think. I may be crazy in my view on this one!

P.S. I love all coasters---even the Bat! I hate it whenever a ride is removed. I just did not think the Bat was that thrilling in comparison to the majority of the other coasters I have been on (including a majority of suspendeds)!

If I were you I'd just delete this post because it makes no sense what-so-ever. Not to mention, you couldn't be more off on an answer to this thread.

Meanstreak anyone? another failing moment for CP :( Also at a park that is so looked up to for their huge announcements of the biggest and best coming in the next season, WT would deffinatly have to go in the "oops" catagory. I mean come on building a ride that is all over the place a little taller and faster with an extra twist whats that? Especially when the ride is already operating about 40 miles away. Not to mention they added a launch coaster the next year with twisting towers going straight up and down. And then you factor in the downtimes, and the not so full speed it spent doing last year. Seesh I expected better from "Americas Roller Coast"
