Worst place to be stuck on a coaster

This particular incident rings home to me, because I hate hanging upside down. Of course I love coasters, however I can't ride anything that just spins around in a circle, or hangs upside down for a period of time, because I become nauseous.

What is the worst place for a coaster to get stuck? Either one that actually happened to you, or perhaps one you would dread happening if it did?

Mine would be Joker's Jinx at SFA. That coaster broke down due to a bad wheel a few years ago and was stuck for hours before they got everyone down. I like that ride, however I barely fit, and due to my long legs, I am jumping out of the seat after the two minute ride. I cannot imagine sitting in that seat for two hours. I think I might lose a leg due to circulation issues if I had to stay longer than a few minutes.

This one time at SFA, and another time at Animal Kingdom, and another time at Epcot...

The turnstile. Ouch.

The never ending back and forth in a valley could cause problems in those with motion sickness.

At a Coasterbuzz event at Great America the year Superman: Ultimate Flight opened, a group of us got stuck for over 45 minutes in flying position on the brake run. That really sucked.

Oh! I have photos of that! I wasn't there, had to coach volleyball, but my wife v1.0 was there. And almost two decades later, the PR rep back then is a good friend and our kids hang out a few times a year. Weird how that goes.

I was stuck on Rip Ride Rocket for the duration of its 99 second ride.

The worst coaster to be stuck on would be the Loop Roller Coaster in Detroit…. because you’d be stuck in Detroit.

Getting stuck on RRR lift doesn't seem fun, how do they evac that thing?

...Loop Roller Coaster in Detroit...

That is in Detroit the same way Cedar Point is in Cleveland, but yes, it is not a good coaster.

Anytime, they stop you and you are stuck in the sun on a 98-degree day.

Magnum's 3rd hill is the best airtime hill out of all the coasters in the world!

Seat divider (ouchie). Thanks, Georgia Cyclone. Miss ya! ❤️

I was curious myself and did some Googling, and came across a thread from here in 2013 that indicates that they basically just have to call the fire department. Not spectacular planning on their part.

The older Gerstlauers have an elevator that can run up the side of the lift. Newer ones (and their Zierer counterpart at Knoebels) have magnets that go up the lift, meaning that should something happen, the car/train should be able to slowly roll back down the lift to the bottom.

Intamins (such as their Zacspins and Fahrenheit) have no anti-rollbacks but instead have two separate "pusher" chains, which in theory would allow them to roll the train back down the hill. This is done at the expense of "fail safe" but it's Intamin, they know what they're doing...

I'm still wondering if Universal will do an overhaul on RRR.. I always thought eliminating the lift/drop tower, for an LSM launch and replacing the trains with Mack Spinner trains ala Time Traveler and Ride to Happiness. That would actually make that ride worthwhile and a significant improvement, plus, make the evacs a lot less dramatic.

Wishful thinking... Sorry for the ramble.

Anyway, I'd say a flying coaster (B&M or Vekoma) in the prone position. Sucks. At least Vekoma fixed that issue with FLY and it's epic loading/unload system.

I've always wondered what happens if the Swiss Toboggan Coaster at Little Amerricka get's stuck in it's enclosed vertical lift.

The cars themselves are caged, and the enclosed part of the tower looks like very limited access.

I have never rode or even seen the ride in person.

I used to see Deja Vu at Great America get stuck on it's towers frequently for extended periods of time. To me being stuck on the second tower always seemed like it would be worse because you wouldn't be able to see what was going on down below.

I've personally never really been stuck on a ride for a extended length of time. Most times only 10-15 minutes at most. My only evacuation was on the lift hill of Ninja at SFMM where I had to walk upstairs instead of down at the end of the ride.

Skyrush, on the inevitable break run, back when they didn't loosen the restraints on the break run. I'll refrain from ranting about it...

I've ridden the Chance Toboggans at Trimper's in Ocean City, MD and Lakemont Park in Altoona, PA. They are fun little torture devices (or were, as they are both now defunct). I actually like them in spite of the discomfort of the tiny cabins...and the painful slamming through the drops at the end.

I was a high schooler in the 70’s when Chance rides were all the rage. There was barely a fair or even shopping center carnival that didn’t set up a Toboggan. Which looking back must have been a chore, as they are a beast to move and set up.
We may have talked about this somewhere already but the last touring Toboggan in the US, owned by Skerbeck, just sold to a showman overseas.
