Worst hour cuts in Six Flags history?

The only way my plan would work is by winning a record breaking (or near recordi breaking) lottery jackpot. I wouldn't be too concerned with reagaining ANY of the intial investment back if I would win a massive PB jackpot. I'd set aside $3-5 million out of a $150 million cash jackpot for my living expenses and an nice $1 mil house and another mill in mutual funds for personal income and another mill or two to pay my imcome tax from the winnings. Business investments are tax free so I could afford to blow $140 million to put into "my" park. I wouldn't worry about recouping the cost of the new rides if I had the cash in my pocket. If I make more than enough just to cover the basic operations costs I'd be happy. ROI would not be important to me if I win the lottery as long as I make enough money to keep the park running.

As for replacing MegaZeph wouldn't you give up a good woodie for the world's BEST woodie? I'm not sure how much space is left in the park for expansion.

I'd also put in a waterpark but because of that other waterpark that's opening up it seems like there was a problem with SFNO getting theirs.

As for family rides I would add some wet/dry slides and any type of water ride that the park is lacking including a themed family water coaster like that one in Korea (I think that is where that awesome looking water coaster is located). My hyper coaster would have mist sprays and a splashdown finale.

My home park is Elitch Gardens. The hours here seem to have stayed the same and it seems they have even added some days.I am not always happy with the park;but it is better than our other park in Denver.I do have to admit that I liked the park alot better when it was at the old location and before six flags bought it.However we have gotten a few new rides over the years so I guess that is something to be greatful for.Maybe Six Flags should consider going back to not so many parks and not buying alot of the ones they have lately.

I wouldn't tear down MZ for anything. I'm of the school that tearing down wood is a sacriledge ;)

And there's lots of room for SFNO to expand, anyway.

Naturally, I like your idea for later hours. In my ideal world a midnight close during peak season would still be standard in the industry!

I would be against tearing down Mega Zeph, though! I LOVE it, and not just because it's my home woodie, but because it's a great ride, IMO!

Even if it were to build a better woodie, why tear down the park's current best ride (and ONLY custom layout) when you could add the new woodie and have an awesome one-two woodie punch, like SFSL, SFOT, SFOG, Holiday World, and Knoebels! And other parks that are cool enough to have even MORE woodies (Hersheypark, Geauga Lake, Mt Olympus, Blackpool, Indiana Beach, Kennywood and most of the Paramount Parks come to mind as truly ELITE parks kind enough to offer MORE than 2 woodies!)

Woodies take up all but 3 or 4 spots on my top 20. The highest steel currently comes in around 6th or so. So in my world, why take the attitude that one woodie is enough when you can NEVER have to many! ;)

So, I would vote yes for new woodie, no on tearing down MZ! But I do love the ideas for adding a hyper and closing later at night!

Track work has been ongoing on MZ since the park closed for the season.

It will be F'ing sweet in 05

Hasn't anyone been paying attention?

Just an add on to the "What are you thinking?" aspect of replacing Mega Zeph with a larger woodie... Name one woodie over 150' in height that has been a "top 10" woodie on Mitch Hawker's poll. (Argueably the best and most accurate poll) The closest has been Colossos (Heide Park) but it never got in the top 10.

All things considered, I have always thought Mega Zeph was the most underrated CCI woodie I have ever been on. The trains are not so great, but the layout is frikkin' brilliant.

Pass da' sizzrup, bro!

Quick...everybody name your top 10 wooden coasters over 140 feet tall!

Top five?

How 'bout three?

Thought so!

I think we all know by now, Big is not necesariliy better in wood. Great coasters can be built in the 80 to 110 feet range.

As shocking as this may sound, my 3 favorite woodies (and currently 3 favorite COASTERS) are all around that height and around 5,000 feet long.

The Boss is my favorite amusement ride EVER!

Then Texas Giant is my number 2, and I have the much-maligned SFFT Rattler at number 3, based on the incredible night rides I got on it in March 2004. I never got to ride the original version with the taller drop so it wasn't a case of complaining that they butchered it, although I'm sure the original version was better.

I'm one of those rare cases who LOVES the megawoodies.

I like my wooden coasters long, tall, fast, aggressive, physical, and ROUGH.

People who know my taste well have suggested that SOB would probably be my number 1. (I live in New Orleans and haven't been to all of the major northern parks yet, but hope to hit PKI in 2005)

However, I do also agree with Calcajun that great woodies can be built in the 80 to 110 foot range. I currently have Georgia Cyclone and Texas Cyclone at 4 and 5, (both in my wood AND overall rankings) and those are both closer to the 80 foot end of the scale.

And I had a blast riding John Allen's Miracle Strip Starliner over and over again this summer, including nearly 100 night rides on it in 9 visits, to say goodbye. And that coaster is only around 70 feet tall and is less than 3,000 feet long.

My favorite woodie--surprise--is also the Boss. It ripped that prize from the mighty 'Clops during 'Playa II: The Lost Parks. And I've done a fair smattering of other people's favorites, including the HW twosome, Boulder Dash, ST and the grossly overrated GR at night.

But any other woodie that tall? Hate 'em. Hate them all.
